If you are after a playground for the children with beautiful ocean views, then Beth Boyd Park in Thorneside is for you. The views are stunning. You can clearly see King Island and the tip of Wellington Point across the water.

I have been to two birthday parties that have been held at this park and my children loved it. Beth Boyd Park is perfect for holding family gatherings as it has undercover picnic tables and electric BBQs.

There are two large playground areas here. The first is a large climbing pirate ship with a slide that is right on the sea front. This doesn't have any shade but when the tide is in my children really think they are out at sea.

The next main playground area is undercover and has a sand base. It has a seated sand digger for the children to use. My little girl loves this.

The climbing equipment has lots of rope ladders, a rope tunnel and a slide. There are also two sets of swings.

In another separate area there is a spinning cycle see saw. Smaller children just need to be careful of this if they are not supervised by an adult, as the wind can push it round and we certainly don't want little ones getting knocked over.

Older children won't be left out here either as there is a basketball court and you will also find a fully equipped exercise area.

Beth Boyd Park has plenty of large grassy areas for picnics and ball games and there are toilet facilities, too.

If you enjoy walking, cycling or scootering there is a lovely paved pathway along the water. This takes you from Beth Boyd Park down to Aquatic Paradise Park West, Commodore Drive in Birkdale. Along the way there is a large unfenced dog off leash area.

At the end of the walkway you will find another beautiful water front park which is smaller but has an undercover playground, BBQs with shaded picnic tables and toilet facilities. It is definitely worth checking out.

I discovered these parks for the first time by accident and often people hear how great they are by word of mouth. So if you are after a park that you have never been to before, be sure to pay them a visit.
