The Best Western Buckingham International can be found about 25 minutes south of Melbourne on Nepean Hwy. Because of its location, you can quickly access the CBD or take a scenic trip to the beach.
With many trips to Melbourne you will not always arrive at the most desired time. I arrived at about 11 pm, and had the manager greet me at the door. Of course, I was the only guest that had not checked in, and it was nice to have a personal greeting.

The lobby was clean and tidy and checking in was easy. Like all hotels, it is customary to record your credit/debit card details for insurance purposes; that is in the event you damage the room, or decide to vacate the premises with all the furniture.
The room was tidy, with a queen size bed. If there is one thing I hope to find in a hotel room is a medium to firm mattress. I can say that Best Western must have done their homework, because the bed was extremely comfortable. And, with a huge flat screen T.V. at the end of the bed, I could comfortably watch TV as my body adjusted to the time zone.
The Bathroom was clean and tidy with the usual selection of toiletries
The bathroom was clean, with the usual soaps, conditioner, shampoo, sanitary bag and shower cap. Of course, there was the normal environmental concern whereby you can have you towels cleaned or you can reuse it the next day. I did my bit with not only helping the business, but reusing a towel which I do at home in any case.
There was a little mini bar, with fridge, toaster and kettle. A nice black coffee is always the best in the morning. However, you also had the option of tea. The cookie was just too tempting to leave isolated on the tray, so I quickly matched it with my coffee as I began getting ready for a busy day.

I soon learnt that the hotel had a restaurant with the option for breakfast for an additional fee. I am not a big breakfast person, so I settled for one of the best coffees I have had in a while. I am not sure if it was my very poor cup of black coffee used as a comparison, or the fact I was still jet lagged and was happy to consume any caffeine to get me through the day.

Melbourne generally has cooler days than most of its Australian City counterparts; however this day was one of its warmest. It was nice to return to a room which was cool. My room was located right by the pool, and I was a little annoyed at myself for not packing in my swimsuit. Needless to say, I was also happy to put my feet up on the bed and let the TV noise fill the air while I did a little more work.

The restaurant hosts specials for their guests each night. Tonight's special was something to do with lamb. I decided that I just wanted something simple, so I tried a small piece of steak with steamed veggies. The steak was so tender that I could cut it with a spoon. To be honest, it has been a while since I had a steak cooked to such perfection.

Apart from its usual option of accommodation, Best Western Buckingham International offers you the chance to book a conference or even a wedding. While my stay was short, I did see a number of businesses take advantage of this opportunity.
All in all, my stay at the Best Western Buckingham International was a memorable one. Of course, I have stayed at many Best Westerns around the world and none have failed in service, quality and selection. Each one has its on uniqueness, and Best Western Buckingham International's uniqueness would definitely fall on their friendly service, their onsite restaurant, and their English style setting.
