So you want to escape the daily grind and get away for a day or a weekend? If you like driving, then these are the escapes for you!

Destination: Hunter Valley
Time: Approx 5 hour round trip including lunch



1. Leaving Sydney, take the Lane Cove Tunnel / M2 towards Windsor

2. Leave the M2/M7 exiting onto the Abbot Road Exit towards Seven Hills/Parramatta

3. Turn right onto Old Windsor Road and continue through to Windsor

4. Continue straight through Windsor bearing right onto Wilberforce road/State Route 69 towards Singleton

5. Enjoy the Putty Road for approx. 136kms.



6. Turn right onto Milbrodale Road towards Sydney/Wollombi and take the first left onto Singleton Street towards Cessnock

7. At the T-Intersection turn left onto McDonalds Road and immediately right onto Broke Road

Heading home:

8. Continue east along Broke Road turning right onto Wine Country Road/B82 towards Cessnock

9. Continue into Cessnock and turn right onto Wollombi Road towards Wollombi (Do Not follow the signs to Sydney)

10. At the T-Intersection turn left onto Great North Road towards Central Mangrove

While you're there, why not stop in at the Wollombi Tavern for the famous Dr Jurds Jungle Juice!

11. Continue straight through Laguna

12. Continue straight as Great North Road turns into George Downes Drive

13. Continue straight through Kulnura

14. Turn left onto Wisemans Ferry Road towards Gosford

15. Continue straight on Wisemans Ferry Road towards Gosford through Somersby

16. Continue straight through the first roundabout

17. Option 1 – M1 Pacific Highway
If you're tired of driving or need to head home a little quicker continue straight through the second roundabout and onto the M1 – Pacific Motorway (formerly the F3) towards Sydney.

18. Option 2 – Old Pacific Highway
If you've caught the driving bug and want a few more twists and turns before home turn right at the second roundabout onto the Old Pacific Highway.

- Continue on Old Pacific Highway towards Brooklyn/Berowra

- Old Pacific Highway turns into the Pacific Highway after Berowra

- Continue through to Sydney
