It's good to be a little bad

I have a love/hate relationship with chocolate. I find myself guilty of over indulging in the small moments of pleasure with delicious bites into creamy chocolate. But this is inevitably followed by the long hours of regret staring at my full stomach.

But what if I could enjoy chocolate without thinking of the looming consequences? What if there was a healthy nutritional alternative? What if, in fact, chocolate was good for you?
Well I'm telling you it is . From one chocolate lover to the next, don't give up yet. Dark chocolate is the solution. Yes, I know, groan. My first thoughts were skeptical. They're bitter and even off-putting at times.
1. 5 times more antioxidants than blueberries 2. Acts as an antidepressant by increasing serotonin levels
3. Rich in flavanols which improves health of blood vessels and decreases blood pressure, therefore leading to protection from cancer and ageing Flavanols also can increase blood circulation.
But before you rush to your nearest supermarkets, beware that the benefits of dark chocolate are specifically linked to the cacoa.
Cacoa is the bean from which cocoa powder is made. It contains the benefits as listed above that cocoa powder, a highly processed chocolate product which has added sugar does not. Thus, raw cacoa has the nutritional goodness.
It is important to check the ingredients in store bought chocolate as it is generally cocoa powder which has cast chocolate into the "bad food" label. Store bought chocolate is best when it is organic and consists of about 70% of cacoa ingredient.
Of course, chocolate must be consumed in moderation and as much as it is salivating and appealing, it still contains fatty substances like sugar.
Model, Abigail O Neill is a perfect example of the nutritional value of raw cacoa. Unwilling to compromise on the sweet delicacy of chocolate, (smart move) she has created chocolate recipes for those chocolate loversClick here for the yummy recipes
She even uses chocolate as a facial rejuvenation mask. Incredible. In fact, she has also written a chocolate recipe book Model Chocolate
