pub lunches brisbane
Many venues around Brisbane offer bang for your buck with their lunches - here are some of the best value

All hail the pub lunch. Cooked meals packed full of flavour and made even better when washed down with a cold one – all for prices worth singing about.

Sure, you could go ahead and pack a ham cheese and tomato sandwich for the umpteenth time, but if you're sick of sang as, you could take advantage of some of Brisbane's best value pub lunches – all available for between $5.00 and $13.00.

Uni students, pensioners and anyone else who loves a bargain, rejoice - below are some of the best lunchtime 'pub grub' bargains around Brisbane to 'make your midday' and give you the hearty sustenance needed to get you through until dinner.

$5.00 STEAKS AND SCHNIZELS @ THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL HOTEL – Cnr Wellington Road and Stanley Street, Woolloongabba

Ok, this is not lunch, but value is here to be had and for those looking for a bargain dinner after their bargain lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays The Aussie Nash serves up $5.00 grazier 250g rump steaks and $5.00 chicken breast schnitzels with any drink purchase.

Both meals are served chips and sauce and are served from 5.30pm.

$12.50 LUNCHES @ THE STOCK EXCHANGE HOTEL – 131 Edward Street, Brisbane City.

Fresh from major renovations and a new rooftop bar, the corporate-esque Exchange Hotel has taken a turn upwards and might just be one of the more upmarket pub food offerings. Choose from:

Ricotta and spinach cannelloni with parmesan and hazelnut crumbs (V)
Beer battered fish with chips, preserved lemon and caper mayonnaise Chicken schnitzel with garden salad and chips
Beef burger with pickles, onions, cheese and tomato mustard mayo with chips, AND
Char grilled beef rump with chips and garden salad

All are served Monday-Friday from 11.30am-3pm.

$6.00 EXPRESS LUNCHES @ ROYAL GEORGE HOTEL (RG's) – Cnr Ann and Brunswick Streets, Fortitude Valley.

RG's is renowned for having specials every day of the week and when it comes to lunch, if you've only got 30 minutes to spare – don't despair since when you order you'll collect your lunch instantly. Choose from 4 different lunches at $6.00 each with drink purchase.

Not lunch, but for those who love cheap eats, also worth mentioning are the Mexican Monday and Tuesday dinners where two dollar tacos and three dollar burritos are up for grabs. Or you could get one of each plus a frozen tequila margarita for the insane price of just $10.00. Aye Papi!

$12.90 COMBOS & $2 SUNDAY STEAKS @ MICK O MALLEY'S IRISH PUB - 171-209 Queen Street Basement Level Wintergarden Centre Brisbane City 4000

Underground Queen Street Mall, O'Malley's serves up your great value rump steak or chicken schnitzel combo meals that include chips, salad, sauce and glass of wine OR a Corona for $12.90. These prices are available for lunch and dinner.

For those in town on Sunday, after your Sunday shopping take advantage of the outrageous $2.00 steaks with any drink purchase. Happy leprechauns are sure to sing 'Fiddle Dee Dee' at prices like these.

$10.00 PRIME RIB FILLET @ THE VICTORY HOTEL – 127 Edward Street, Brisbane.

City workers and anyone else in town on weekdays can take advantage of The Vic's extremely popular 12 hour slow cooked rib fillet, lightly coated in sea salt, thyme, rosemary and cut into 200g servings with chips and salad or vegetables. Promising to be one of the most tender meats you'll find in the city, for just 10 bucks this is definitely a 'meal steal.'

Available are several other $10.00 lunches between 11.30am-2.30pm, Monday to Friday. For those watching the clock on their lunch break, all meals can be ordered through email or by calling the hotel directly and placing an order.

$7.95 ROAST LUNCHES @ THE PADDINGTON TAVERN – 186 Given Terrace, Paddington.

The Paddo has been doing their roast lunches for bargain prices for as long as people can remember. Served with fresh hearty veggies, and different pork, beef, chicken, silverside, and lamb depending on the day, you can't argue with the quality or the price. Available every day of the week with any drink purchase, with a bread roll to soak up the succulent gravy is available for just 1.00 extra.

$5.99 ROAST LUNCH WITH VEGGIES @ THE PINEAPPLE HOTEL – 706 Main Street Kangaroo Point

pineapple hotel

Available in the 5th Element Lounge Bar is in my opinion one of Brisbane's best kept cheap eat secrets. Sure the price has increased from $4.99, but you still can't argue with the 5.99 price, and if you do, you're more of a cheapskate than me.

Like the Paddo, The Piney is also celebrated by a legion of regulars for it's cheap as chips traditional roasts. Available Monday - Friday between 12-3pm and serving up generous portions of different daily roasts including roast corned beef, chicken, pork and lamb.
If you'd like a little more choice, in the adjacent Park Bar overlooking Raymond Park, $10.00 lunches including pizzas, parmas, steaks and more are available.

If you're looking for a more lively lunch than a soggy sandwich or bland salad, make your weekday lunch a highlight and congratulate yourself for grabbing a quality solid meal for a value-for-money price.

See you for lunch soon!

Please note that deals are correct as of October 2014 and may be subject to change. If you know of any other exceptional value and quality pub lunches in Brisbane and surrounds please let me and everyone else know so we can check them out!
