Stuck for ideas this Valentine's Day? Don't worry, the WeekendNotes team has you covered. Geraldine Massey, our own brilliant WeekendNotes writer, has already covered several great ideas in her article Best Valentine's Day Activities in Melbourne.

If your looking for the perfect place to wine and dine, check out our Where's the Most Romantic Restaurant in Melbourne? article, or if you are looking somewhere special to head to, see our Where is Melbourne's Most Romantic Spot? article by our equally brilliant writer Natasha Stewart.

In this particular article we will cover several key Melbourne Valentine's Day events.

Valentine's Day at the Movies

Opening in theatres this Valentine's Day is one lone cinema release, This Means War, starring Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine. It is a sort of spy versus spy rom com. If that does not appeal to you, there is The Vow, a film billed as the next The Notebook - with Ryan Gosling replaced by Channing Tatum. Any Questions for Ben? is another Valentine's Day option, however if you want to see Shame, perhaps save it for another day.

Valentine's Day Dining

Several Melbourne cafes and restaurants will have special set menus on Valentine's Day evening - here are our top picks;

Terra Rossa Restaurant/Bar is an acclaimed Italian establishment and they are offering a Valentine's Day special. Bookings are required, so head to their website for more information.

World Restaurant & Bar is a WeekendNotes favourite and this Valentine's Day they have a great special; for $65 per person, enjoy seafood to share, your choice of main and your choice of dessert. Upon arrival you will be served a glass sparking wine. Check out the Valentine's Day menu here. Bookings are required, so head to the World Restaurant & Bar website for more information.

Veludo Bar & Restaurant is another WeekendNotes hotspot and this Valentine's Day, they are offering a $60 per person special which includes a glass of sparking wine upon arrival. You and your date will enjoy a 3 course meal, which includes a shared dessert. Bookings are essential, so head to the Veludo Bar & Restaurant website for more information.

Campari House is also hosting a great foodie event; a 5 course 'Italy vs Australia Valentine's Day Food and Wine Showdown'. Priced at $130, each course will be matched with an Australian and Italian wine. Let the battle begin! Bookings are required for this event, please see the Campari website for further information.

Valentine's Day Sunset Cruises

There is something about cruises and Valentine's Day - just ask our talented WeekendNotes writer Natasha Abrahams. Two dinner cruise options are;

Lady Lindeman Sunset Dinner Cruise priced at $80 per person. You will be treated to champagne once you aboard the vessel and then enjoy a deluxe 3 course meal, which includes a shared dessert over 3 hours. Bookings are required for this event, please see here for further information.

Melbourne River Cruises are offering a Valentine's Day Cruise which will include a 4 course meal over three hours. You can select from three options for each course. This experience is priced at $155 per person. Bookings are required, so head to the website for further details.

If you have a recommendation for a Valentine's Day activity or event, please share it with us by leaving a comment.

As always, we look forward to your feedback.
