What is the Best Thai Restaurant in Brisbane?

Home > Brisbane > Restaurants | Food and Wine | Questions
Writer's Answer:
Published August 2nd 2011
Thai food has a wonderful feature of blending with the local eating traditions all over the world, creating a gourmet dining experience. It combines four main tastes: sweet, sour, salt and spicy, expressed in soups, noodles, meat/fish dishes, salads, snacks or desserts. Everyone is able to name at least a few traditional Thai meals: green or yellow curry chicken, Thai Pad noodle, Tom Yam, spring rolls and so on.

Another great feature is Thai dining culture, where all the meals are shared at the table. These reasons above are probably the main ones why Thai food is one of the fastest- growing and most popular cuisines today.

You can find a great number of restaurants and cafes serving Thai food or its variation in almost every Brisbane suburb. Some of them have been already reviewed by the Weekend Notes team: Chiangmai Thai Restaurant (Gold Coast) and iThai (Sunnybank).

Other popular venues are:Thai Orchid (Springwood, Milton and Mount Gravatt), Baan Thai in Springwood, Siam Sunset Thai Restaurant (Sherwood), Mons Ban Sabai (Camp Hill) and others.

But which one is the best? Let's find out. Please share your opinions and preferences. Vote for your favourite place and let others to discover something new in the city.

Siam Sunset at Graceville gives you one of the most pleasant dining experiences in the western suburbs. The food is fresh and tasty and there's usually a good crowd of locals eating there - always an indicator of quality.

Definately not Thai on chardons at Annerley. The takeaway orders usually take between 45 mins to 1 hour and the food isn't up to scratch.

My absolute fave is the Royal Thai Orchid at Milton. I am a vego so being able to get Thai curries without fish sauce is incredibly difficult usually. This restaurant will make you a curry without fish sauce/shrimp paste. The are fab!
