This cup is too pretty for substandard tea.

If you order tea in a cafe what you get is often just a teabag and some hot water, which is like paying cafe prices for an instant coffee. It's hardly getting your money's worth, and when I have only gotten to choose between Liptons Earl Grey and English Breakfast and I look across the table at my dining companion's Super Mocha Frappa Whateva with extra whipped cream, cinnamon, marshmallows, chocolate sprinkles and splinters of the True Cross I can't help but feel just a tiny bit envious.

There are, however, a few places around where you can get a decent cup of tea. I live for such places. It's wonderful to have someone make you proper loose leaf tea in a pot. Some tea houses even have dozens of different varieties to choose from, including herbal, green tea, white tea, rooibos (red tea) and black tea flavoured with spices or fruits.

My fellow Weekend Notes writers have written about Three Monkeys Tea and Coffee House, The T-Liscous Tea Emporium and Queenies Tea House but there must be other places out there where tea drinkers can go for a nice cuppa. If you've found one please share it in the comments!

A cup of flavoured black tea.

Vanilla Pod, Lancaster Road, Ascot is good, as is Slightly Twisted Refreshment Lounge (Sandgate Rd, Nundah), and Le Bon Choix (Racecourse Rd, Ascot).
And since Max Brenner opened at Portside Wharf I am a frequent visitor there too, especially as they stay open till late, hmm.

I reckon the best one I have been to is most definitely Vintage Aura on Logan Road at Holland Park. It's got so much character and the staff are there to please. Plus it's got a fabulous gift shop attached to the tea room. Actually, the tea room is probably attached to the gift shop which is huge. So much to see and the prices are really great. Every time I go there, I'm spend at least 3 hours cause there is so much to look at and it's so nice to go there. Highly Recommended!
