Are you in Nelson Bay on holidays and looking for a good takeaway shop to take dinner back to the hotel room? Or to sit by the water and enjoy as the sun goes down?
Around the tourist town of Nelson Bay, there are numerous takeaway options to choose from - from Indian cuisine to Chinese favourites and plenty in between. If you have young kids with you however, with fairly plain tastes, then you may be looking for the usual takeaway food favourites without any spice. These options below are the ones that our family have discovered, however, if you find any more on your trip that you wish to share, please leave a comment at the top of this article and share your tips. After a big day of exploring, you need a delicious dinner to finish the day on the right note. Here are a few ideas to whet the appetite...

Sunan 9 is a Thai restaurant in the heart of town and offers delicious noodles and rice dishes if your children enjoy Asian food. My daughter loves this restaurant for its Oyster Chicken and rice and Hokkein Noodles, which are both particularly mild. See here for details.
Wests Diggers Nelson Bay offers takeaway service on their whole menu in their upstairs bistro. At the time of writing, they offer pizza, burgers, chicken nuggets, kid's meals, pasta dishes and more. You will need to sign in and then head on upstairs to the Bay Brasserie to place your order. See here for details. If you are thinking about eating in, also check out the other clubs in town which have play areas for kids.
Free BBQ areas are dotted all along bays around the region, so you can pick up some sausages and supplies from the shops and cook up your own dinner by the water. See here for some popular, scenic locations near playgrounds.
Have you found a handy takeaway shop which has food that the kids love? If so, please leave a comment at the top of this article and it will be shown underneath, for others to read. Visiting a local takeaway shop while you're on holidays is a good way to support local businesses and meet the friendly locals in town. If you take your fish and chips to the Nelson Bay Foreshore, below, the local seagulls will also be particularly friendly too!
