If you love your coffee, then you know how hard it can be to find the perfect coffee when you go for a day trip somewhere new. If you are a coffee aficionado, then you will know all about the best beans, the best regions, the best way to grind them and the ultimate way to pour them. I personally just know what I like - as long as it is creamy, doesn't have a burnt taste, has a smooth flavour and hits the spot on a cold morning, then I'm easy pleased!
If you are taking a day trip to Nelson Bay, there are a number of takeaway coffee outlets to choose from - right in the centre of town. I personally have tried all of them out and have my favourites - however coffee is subjective - so what I like, may not necessarily be your "cup of tea", so to speak. These are
my favourite takeaway coffee outlets in the heart of Nelson Bay - however, please leave a comment at the top of this article and share which one(s) you like the best - or if you have discovered any more! This first one is a winner, every time...

Essence Espresso is located on
Donald Street and sells organic
Numero Uno coffee and raw, vegan slices and cakes. The staff are friendly, the coffee is made quickly, the temperature is always perfectly hot and it's delicious every time. As this cafe offers healthy alternatives, you may also see Bulletproof coffee on the blackboard, which contains butter and is suited to the keto diet. Why don't you give one a try? See
here for details. For a full article on Essence Espresso, see

Look for Essence Espresso on Donald Street
Evviva Cafe & Bar is my favourite cafe in Nelson Bay for eclectic charm, friendly staff and delicious takeaway coffee. You can find them on
Stockton Street, just a short walk from Woollies. From the front it looks small, however, they make a quick, mean cappuccino and you can also grab a carrot cake to go with it. If you decide to have your coffee in a mug and sit in, there is also a tucked-away leafy courtyard out the back. See
here for details. For a full article on Evviva Cafe & Bar, see
here.

Coffee & cake at Evviva!
The Little Nel is located a short walk from the Nelson Bay Town Centre and up a hill, on
Government Road. This popular cafe always has people milling out the front - either waiting for a table or their takeaway coffees. This popular venue has a range of takeaway coffees and hot drink options, such as the Spirulina and Chai Latte, shown below. They get their coffee beans from
Suspension Espresso in Newcastle, so you can support two local businesses at once! See
here for details. For a full article on The Little Nel, see
here.
* The owners of The Little Nel also own the newly-opened Signal Box opposite Queen's Wharf, Newcastle.

Walk up Government Road to The Little Nel
These are my personal takeaway coffee venues in Nelson Bay - have you tried any others? Which are
your favourites? Please leave a comment at the top of this article and share your favs. Once you have your hot takeaway cup in hand, it is then just a short walk from all of these venues down to the
d'Albora Marinas to look at the boats, or go for a walk along the
Nelson Bay Foreshore. You can't beat a good coffee and a view!
If you are anything like me, the range of cakes and pastries that you can buy to go
with your takeaway coffee is always a factor in where to go!
Essence Espresso has vegan slices,
Evviva Cafe & Bar has the best carrot cakes and
The Little Nel has the most more-ish muffins that they bake daily. Mmmm...where will you be trying this weekend?
