How do you blow the cobwebs away? There are endless choices only an hour or two away by car or book that cheap flight. Explore Weekend Notes for more escape ideas to spice up your life.



Could it be the beaches that abound on our stunning coastline or riversides – it a creature of habit then mix it up and visit another?

They can vary from a busy bustle with trendy cafes, boardwalk and the spit like Mooloolaba that totally offers something for everyone. Or seek out the quieter option where the whole family are catered for.



Or camping and hiking in the national parks that showcase our native bushland with our distinct fauna and flora. The Gold Coast hinterland has been my preferred hiking area for ages, easily accessible from Brisbane and has a great variety.

But don't overlook your local parks for free family barbeques, playgrounds, duck ponds, fitness, relaxation and exciting events.



Or explore something that you haven't done for a while like an historic village , museum or an exotic community .



Don't miss the whales this season you can watch from a headland or book a trip; I've tried a few but Hervey Bay offers the most professional and informative. Where you can find one to suit your schedule and budget, although I strongly recommend a smaller vessel as the curious whales actually come up to eyeball you, an experience you will never forget. So broaden your weekend escape ideas and your family will thank you.
