Schnitzels are universally loved, but there is one thing better: a stuffed schnitzel. Whether you want an inside-out parmigiana with cheese stuffing, or a flavoursome mushroom filling, or would like more meat with your meat by stuffing a chicken schnitzel with bacon, there is a perfect stuffed schnitzel for all tastes. Despite the parmigiana being a staple of any Melbourne pub, the stuffed schnitzel is a rarer creature that must be hunted down.
Personally, I cannot go past the stuffed schnitzels of Budapest Restaurant in Elsternwick. Their cheddar cheese stuffed chicken schnitzel could win the heart of any schnitzel connoisseur. They also have the famous meat lovers schnitzel crammed with sausage, bacon and cheese.

Caulfield restaurant Russian Accent serves many delicious dishes for the meat eater, including a mushroom stuffed chicken breast. If you go so far as to join the exclusive Swiss Club, their members' restaurant has a ham and cheese stuffed schnitzel, and Docklands pub The James Hotel serves a garlic chicken kiev.
