What's the Best Second-Hand Book Shop in Brisbane?

Brisbane, born and bred.

As much as I love reading and buying books, sometimes forking out $25 or more on a few hundred pages seems a bit much. On the other hand, borrowing books from the library can be unsatisfying because if it's a really good book, chances are you will want a copy of your own (and libraries don't take too kindly to people holding onto their books). The obvious solution is second-hand books, but Brisbane isn't New York. There aren't funky second-hand bookshops on every corner, with tables and tables of good quality bargains. So where are all of Brisbane's second-hand books hiding?

I love Bent Books in West End – they have a great selection and the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, but the books just aren't that cheap. For cheap books that are also good for the conscience, there are the Cystic Fibrosis Bookshops and the Lifeline Bookfest.

But there must be more book bargains out there somewhere; leave a comment and help me find where.

Marriot's Bookstore - Lawnton.
Large floor to ceiling stacks of books, all in organised categories and all reasonably priced. Marriot's will also take your second-hand books and reduce the price of any books you purchase in return.

The "Really Good Book Shop" at Shop 4, 1-3 Central Court, Hillcrest (near Browns Plains) lives up to its name. They have a huge selection, and what they don't have they will try to source for you. You can also trade in your old books for store credits. What more could a bookworm want?
