Every year children all over the world look forward to a visiting Santa. It is a chance to request a special toy for Christmas and to check if they are on the naughty or nice list. My children understand that Santa is far too busy at this time of year to hang around shopping centres and how he hand picks special helpers to assist him.
Of course, it helps if they look like the real deal. I have seen my fair share of dodgy Santas, including a cross-eyed one. But today I think we may have encountered the authentic Santa.
This Santa, who merrily greets the children at Mt Gravatt Plaza, has twinkling blue eyes and a jolly "ho ho ho". There were no long line-ups or expensive pictures to purchase. I took my own photos with my own camera while Santa enquired what they would like for Christmas. He seemed genuinely sincere; he had me convinced. Santa visits Mt Gravatt Plaza from 10 am until 2 pm daily plus 4 pm until 6 pm on Thursdays.
Other notable Santas can be found at Santaland in Myer and also David Jones in Queen Street Mall.
Do you have a favourite Santa? If you do, please leave a comment and let other Weekend Notes readers know about him.
