Pubs have become trendy and rather great places to catch up with a few mates and have a few drinks, and even a bite to eat. Some of these top Sydney pubs also have (from time to time) great events, art and trivia nights These are the top pubs in Sydney that have created a great following and are worth visiting.

1. Arthouse Hotel

Love the cool ambience and the amazing art. This establishment is a rather relaxing locale to have a few drinks. Great and professional bar service with a feel of swish yet simple abundance and opulence. Have never been disappointed with either the wines or the Midori lemonades. Great for after work drinks or for catching up with a couple of friends before heading down to Darling Harbour or to a great night out at the movies.

2. Courthouse Hotel

A great locale where all the Sydney Swans AFL fans get together if the swannies are on a winning streak. The courtyard area is always packed on the weekends, and the most popular share type of snack is the potato wedges. This establishment could easily be dubbed as the 'watering hole of the inner west.'

3. Glenmore Hotel

There might be a few people that will literally kick me for telling you about this supposedly 'best kept secret' along The Rocks, but if you happen to the in The Rocks and you are in the mood for a quality drink (or two) with someone, you can come to this establishment. Perfect location with fairly cheap feeds. If you don't mind the crowds, you will love it here on any given Australia Day.

4. Doma Bohemian Beer Cafe

A refreshing change from what can be thought of as the 'typical Sydney pub' and you are also away from the craziness of nearby Kings Cross. Really laid back and rather relaxing with unusual drink items that ignite your evil side in a pleasant way. I won't say more as the element of surprise is always the fun part. Easy to get a little bit tipsy here.

5. Harold Park Hotel

I know, I know the entrance is not the prettiest, but if you love old fashioned service with cheap and quality meals then you are in heaven at this establishment. It is located near the old Harold Park Raceway where construction of new apartments are under-way. Chic and stylish interior. Nothing here to disappoint, and if you love films, Tuesday nights need to be blocked out in your diary so you can come here.
