We always complain about Christmas shopping but it's really pretty tame and civilised. But once the turkey has been eaten, the empty beer and champagne bottles have filled the recycling bin and the kids have already broken one of their Christmas presents, the real shopping action begins.

Boxing Day. In days gone by that name conjured up cheery thoughts of the Boxing Day Cricket Test or the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, but alas no more. These days Boxing Day, when coupled with that other word - sales, heralds furious hordes of frenzied shoppers, sales tables in disarray and harassed and flustered sales assistants.

Brisbane, like most other Australian cities is currently a bargain-hunter's paradise. Here are some great sales to whet your appetite.

We'll start with what every girl wants - shoes, fashion and accessories.
Sussan, one of my favourite fashion stores is offering up to 70% off selected styles in-stores and online, with their current summer sale. You'll have to be quick for these sizzling savings.

Tracey Mathers Shoe Studio Summer Sale has a huge selection of stylish heels, pumps, boots and sandals to ensure your feet stay fashionable through summer. Now that the Boxing Day Test has finished you may even be able to drag your man along for some men's footwear bargains too.

Forever New Wish it Would Last Forever Sale is in-store and online now. Items on sale include jewellery, belts, hats, bags, tops and dresses. There's even free shipping if you spend more than $150 when you buy online.
