I'm a city girl passionate about travelling, discovering new places and making the most out of my weekends.

Autumn is my next favourite season after summer. The air is cooler but not bone-chilly, and golden foliage can be seen popping up across Sydney in varying degrees.

The most beautiful time of the year is here

I love nature in all its glory. If there is a place in or around Sydney that displays the rich colours of autumn. then I'm all for making a day trip there to enjoy the season's best.

Some of the best places I've found that showcase gorgeous autumn colours are Mount Wilson and Mount Victoria in the Blue Mountains, Wisemens Ferry and Hunter Valley.

All three places are within 2 hours drive from Sydney and make for perfect day trips with friends and family. Pack a picnic, hop into the car and cruise your way down to some of the best places to view autumn trees and foliage.

Autumn trees in Mt Wilson

Mount Wilson is famous for the many privately owned gardens that are open to the public. You will find streets lined with trees in varying shades of fall. Mount Victoria, which is not far from Mount Wilson. is a charming little village with cute cafes, antique shops and of course, autumn foliage dotting the quiet streets.

Squeeze in some wine tasting at Hunter Valley

If you are a fan of wine tasting, make a trip up north to Hunter Valley instead and you can pack in vineyard visits in between enjoying the colours of fall.

Some early autumn foliage in Wisemens Ferry

Wisemens Ferry is a great place for outdoor activities due to its perfect location by the Hawkesbury River. Even at this time of the year, watersports like waterskiing and wakeboarding can be popular amongst Sydneysiders. You are treated to beautiful autumn colours as you glide down the river, if you remember to stop and look around that is!

Do you know of any spots in and around Sydney that are perfect for this time of the year? Do share!
