Whatever you do, do not forget that Sunday, May 12, 2013 is Mother's Day.

Our mums have nurtured, raised us and been there for the tears, fears and cheers over all the years. And for that, she deserves to be celebrated and spoiled.

It isn't Mother's Day without a nice meal, so let's look at some of the best places to take your mum on this special day.

Utopia @ Waterfall Gully promises stunning surrounds and a "beautiful breakfast" or "luscious lunch". Breakfast is from 8 am until 10.30 am and costs $45 per person, while lunch is from 12 noon until 2.30 pm and costs $69. View the menu and find more information here .

If mum is feeling active, she may enjoy a walk around Waterfall Gully after the meal.

How about Mother's Day High Tea at Glen Ewin Estate in the Adelaide Hills? Mum will enjoy a selection of sweet and savoury delicacies, sparkling wine, tea, coffee and live music. My dear mother lives in Te Kuiti, New Zealand , so she will have to settle for a gift in the mail and a phone call on the day. If she were in Adelaide, we would probably head to McLaren Vale for lunch at The Artel , Bracegirdle's at 190 , or her favourite, The Tin Shed Cafe .

After lunch, we would go to the nearby Singing Gallery for live music by Laura Hill and her band, the Tuesday Bandits. The Afternoon Delights Mother's Day Show is from 3 pm until 6 pm and tickets cost $20 each. Visit the Singing Gallery website for booking information.

If your mum likes to visit a day spa as much as mine, she might like a voucher from Eleaner Botanical Treatment Studio at McLaren Vale. There are several offers available especially for Mother's Day and on Saturday, May 11th, Eleaner is providing Mother's Day Rose Petal Foot Treatments in front of the open fire for $25. Visit the website for more information.

Mother's Day is a busy time for restaurants, cafes and venues in Adelaide, be sure to secure your place and make your booking as soon as possible. If you happen to miss out, or would rather stay in, never underestimate the power of a card that tells her how much you care and a home-cooked meal. Just don't forget to do the washing up.
