Being parents of four young children, living on the Mornington Peninsula, we have had plenty of experience of finding fun and interesting things to do.
Here are my favourite places to take our children
The Best Playgrounds:
Flinders Park is a large park with plenty of running space and conveniently located in the main street, with good shade and play equipment.
Sorrento Park has lovely views over the bay, with large expanses of lush green lawn for picnicking. A large wooden playground with plenty of swings. My children always get excited watching the car ferry from the playground.
Mornington Park is at the end of Main St and is another great spot for picnics and BBQ's, with bay views and plenty of room to move.

Mothers Beach
The Best Beaches:
Beaches on the Peninsula are great for kids. The best child friendly beaches in the bay are
Mothers and
Mills Beach in Mornington,
Safety Beach in
Dromana and
Sorrento front beaches are my top picks. On the Western Port side
Balnarring and
Point Leo (ideal for slightly older children to take their body boards) are recommended.

Yummo
The Best Kids Cafes:
Bucklys Chance in Sorrento is great for pancakes, we have been visiting for years. Very child orientated with a good variety of meals for adults.
Lilo in Mornington is the regional cafe of the year and caters well for children.
Ciao Bella in Balnarring for great authentic pizza and
Yummo in Mornington for ice cream

Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm
The Best Activities:
Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm at Main Ridge is a winner with my children. They can pick their own berries to take home and even if they don't like strawberries, they seem to eat them if they picked them themselves.
At
Mornington Railway my kids enjoy the train ride from Moorooduc to Mornington, it's nice and short and keeps them interested.

The Enchanted Maze
The
Enchanted Maze at Arthurs Seat is fun for all ages including mum and dad, this could be a day trip within itself.
Arthurs Seat Trail Rides, for children aged 6 and over. Trail rides run for two hours and depart twice daily at 11am and 2pm. Rides cost $40.

The Best Walks:
The
Balcombe Estuary board walk in Mt Martha, is a favourite with my children, also the Mt Martha - Mornington
Cliff top walk. My kids like watching the ships come through the bay. On the weekends there are often para sailers that take off from the cliff tops.
Enjoy your time on the Mornington Peninsula.
