You've squealed over the positive pregnancy test, pored over your new pregnancy, childbirth and baby books and planned out the nursery.

But you're uncomfortable. Really uncomfortable. Your bra doesn't fit anymore and you're ready to upgrade to underwire-free, drop down cup maternity bras.

If you're lucky you might find one in a regular department store which is fine for you.

However, you may want to consider a professional fitting. This is a time of your life when your shape may change significantly over the course of your pregnancy, post birth and during breastfeeding.

What's your recommendation? Where is the best place to go to buy a maternity bra in Melbourne?

Here are my two top tips to get you started.

1. Dickory Dock
945 Burke Rd, Camberwell VIC 3124
Ph: (03) 9882 1575

The professional corsetieres at Dickory Dock will make you feel special in the elegant surroundings and spacious fitting rooms. They will find the perfect fit for you, and if it's not quite right you can even have it altered on site.

I was fitted for my first maternity bra here and had the straps shortened while I popped out to grab a coffee nearby. The bras are not cheap but they are certainly worth it.

Hours are Monday - Friday 9am till 5pm and Saturday - 9am till 12pm (Retail Only).

2. Femmeline
14 Hewish Road Croydon,VIC 3136
Ph: 03 9723 2414

Femmeline has been fitting bras for women of all sizes for decades. Their mature corsetieres will find the right maternity bra for you in a one-on-one fitting.

Relaxed and friendly, the ladies even gave me some great parenting advice, told me everything was going to be just fine and sent me out the door with a couple of comfortable bras and feeling much better altogether.

If you've been blessed (or cursed, depending on your view) with a fuller figure, they've got plenty of stock in larger sizes and you can even pick up some maternity clothes while you're there.

Michelle Ann in Main st Mornington is fantastic. They have a huge range to choose from. These ladies are very hands on in getting the right fit so don't be shy, you will thank them later.
