Everyone loves cake. We all have our favourites be it black forest cake, mud cake, classic cheesecake or a Gateau. For afternoon tea or that special occasion, choosing the right cake can be make or break.

There are so many quality patisseries and cake shops in Perth including Chez Jean-Claude Patisserie , Miss Mauds , Fiorentina, the Miami Bakehouse, Cakes Delight or Francois, - all highly recommended. These are just a few of the many patisseries around Perth. Their cakes and pastries are delightful and practically all are able to make you a personalised cake for that special occasion.

Michels Patisserie has some great cakes and so many to choose from, some of them not too expensive either. Drop in and try a piece of your favourite with a cup of rainforest alliance coffee (recently voted best tasting). Check out your local store or shop on line at your convenience. With full sized cakes starting at just $10 there are plenty to choose from. And, if you have something special coming up (birthday, wedding, you name it) then you can special order a cake from there. It will be fresh, personalised and delicious.

An old favourite, The Cheesecake Shop has a huge variety of freshly baked cakes available. Gateaux, cheesecakes, mud cakes and Pavlova's, check out the website to find your sweet treat. They have everything you could possibly want and more, and although they do cost quite a bit, they are large cakes and really worth it.

These are just a few patisseries around Perth- the more well known ones. But sometimes the most well known things aren't the best. Sometimes the best are kept secret. So, if you know a great patisserie, cake shop or bakery don't keep it a secret. Please tell us now.

Definately Choux Cafe in Swanbourne! Beautiful French pastries, bread and savouries created by owner Emmanuel Mollois who was on Poh's kitchen last year. Trying the macarons is a must.

Martineaus Patisserie in Nedlands is superb, testified by all the loyal customers they have accrued over the years. I grew up eating the delicious cakes, pastries, and savoury delights and now it is still my one go-to pattisserie even though I no longer live in the area.

Owned by a husband and wife duo, you cannot beat owner/chef Christian's skills and token gruff French manner, or owner/customer service aficionado Christine in bringing you experience to die for.
