Get paid to influence the products hitting our shelves
Many companies are eager to find out how consumers perceive their products so they can create more popular products in future. Usually they turn to market research companies to help them find this out, and in recent times the capacity for quick consumer feedback has increased significantly through use of the internet.
One of the methods used is paid online survey sites. These sites invite you to earn points in exchange for completing online surveys. The topics of these surveys can range from the performance of the latest multi-purpose cleaner on the market, to your favourite flavour of ice cream.
As a rule, a survey can be expected to take 10 – 30 minutes to complete and you will generally get anything up to 300 points, depending upon the length of the survey. To give you an idea of what this is worth, on most sites 100 points is roughly equivalent to a dollar. Sites differ as to how these points can be redeemed, but most of them provide a range of gift cards from well-known retailers.
While you will never get rich on paid online survey sites, you can make a little spending money. A good time to do this can be while you are on the bus or train travelling to and from work.
Another reason to get involved is that you can actually influence the latest products that are arriving on our shelves by the feedback that you give during surveys. Paid online survey sites also present occasional opportunities for face-to-face market research, where you can earn between $30 and $200 if you are selected to participate.
To get started you need to sign up to a survey site and create a profile. Not all sites are worth joining, however, as some sites make it impossible to accumulate enough points to redeem rewards within a reasonable period. On first-rate sites, on the other hand, it shouldn't take more than two or three months for you to be able to start redeeming your points. Below are the four best paid online survey sites that I have tried:
Advertised in recent television commercials, this site is well established. Options for redemption of points are also good on My Opinions. You may redeem your points for cash via PayPal at the sum of either $20 or $100.
The other alternative is to transfer your points to sister survey site - Rewards Central - where it can be deposited in an 'ebank' located on the site to collect interest.
Rewards Central is more than just a survey site. You can earn points in a variety of ways. Points can be earned by carrying out simple tasks like viewing advertisements, making online purchases with participating retailers and by playing games. The best part is the 'ebank' where you can deposit points earned. Depending upon the amount you deposit and the length of the term, you can earn upwards of 8% interest. Points can also be redeemed through PayPal, as gift cards, or as cash directly into your account.
This site is a particular favourite of mine. It has a lot of surveys and you can take them at will, when available – something that other paid online survey sites do not offer. Opinion World also has a large range of e-vouchers. This includes vouchers for Adidas, Amazon, Bunnings, Kmart and Winemakers Choice among others, so there is something for everyone.
My View is a great survey site. They offer frequent surveys and the length and reward for each is good. You will also find that the format of the surveys on this site is more fun.
The most impressive aspect of this site is the generous referral reward. There is an option to refer friends on most paid online survey sites, but My View gives an impressive $5 worth of points per referral. This site doesn't offer as wide a range of gift cards but they are in low denominations, so this does mean you can redeem your rewards sooner.
A great aspect of all of these sites is that they allow you to donate what you earn to suggested charities. My Opinions, in particular, allows you to donate to the charity of your choice.
