Cheap laughs, literally
The Sydney Comedy Festival is in full swing at numerous venues across Sydney. The Factory theatre is one venue that has turned into a comedy precinct with upwards of nine shows a night, many simultaneously.
One worth checking out is Best of the Fest. Running Wednesday to Saturday at 7pm and 6pm on Sundays until the 18th of May, it's an hour-long set, showcasing five or more comedians.
Last night, we were treated to six, all different styles but all excellent. My cheeks were aching from grinning in between laughs and it was a brilliant way to check out some new talent.
Finishing at 8pm, it allowed me to head to the box office and grab a ticket to the 8.15 show and continue the elation. It's also the perfect timing if you just want to head home for an early night, or grab a drink at the bar after.
If you are unfamiliar with the talent, this is a great way to check out who is out there, and at $20 - $25, the price is right.
Make the most of the month of comedy in Sydney. Mirth and merriment at a low cost sounds like the perfect remedy to winter blues. Remember the advice of Lord Byron "Always laugh when you can, it is cheap medicine."
