Motley & Mac present 'Best of Fringe Variety' , running as part of The Adelaide Fringe Festival at Gluttony - La Petite Grande, at 7:45pm until Sunday March 15th.

The show features four acts for the price of one, and every night is different. The show on the Monday, 9th of March public holiday, featured a packed house of guests, who kept filling up more and more as the show progressed. The show commenced with host Tim Motley, as he prepared the audience with some magic rope tricks, before handing the ready crowd over to Lili la Scala, from the show 'The Sirens' .

She started to sing and the crowd cheered. Her song 'Muma' was very saucy and cheeky, but done tastefully, and makes me want to see her own cabaret show. She came back out later with another number 'Life of the Party', which was equally as great.

Next was a man from the show 'Trash Test Dummies' . He performed beautiful spinning ball tricks and juggling, but what makes his act different to any other circus show? He does the tricks with a bowling ball. He throws it up, and catches it on his cheek. It has to be seen to be believed.

Then, just when you think you've seen it all, he does the sword swallowing trick, which is pretty incredible on its own, but that's not all. He tells us he is the only person to be able to swallow a sword and back flip, and he proceeds to show the audience. This was amazing - if you're only going to one show in this year's Adelaide Fringe its got to be 'Best of Fringe Variety', or 'Trash Test Dummies'.

The third act featured Dado from 'Another Doorway Cabaret' . I've seen him performing around the garden before, but his show is different to what you've already seen. Yes, he's known for his balloon tricks, but its so much more than street balloon animals. He let an audience member shoot a dart at a balloon between his legs, after he shows him how. He attaches a disposable plastic glove to his head with a tube, and blows the glove up while it's still attached to his head. He plays the bagpipes using this glove-and-tube combo. He's remarkable to watch, and his tricks are downright weird, but it works for him.

The show features tap and burlesque dancers, singers, acrobats, comedians, magicians, clowns, strong men, hula-hoopers, bubble sculptors and puppeteers; with a different cast every night, you'll never see the same show twice. The concept of four quality guest acts in four completely different genres is great. I loved getting a taste of what I'm in for before buying tickets to a show I might not like. 'Best of Fringe Variety' has something for everyone.
