New York is known for its nightlife, but its large array of taverns is remarkable. For anyone looking for that type of bar scene, New York offers just that in nearly every neighborhood and borough of the city. Those mentioned are just some of the great taverns of New York.
The Landmark Tavern was opened in 1868 and is an historical and fun tavern in New York. The food is great and moderately priced. With a friendly atmosphere, the drinks are reasonable for the city of New York. There are live music acts on certain nights and most of the time, there is no cover. Landmark Tavern is a casual hideaway amongst the elite, expensive bars of New York.
Located on E. 20th Street, Gramercy Tavern has great food and service. They are open from 12 noon to 11pm daily. Access the tavern by the 4 or 6 train at 23rd street. The food is expensive, but well worth it. Opened in 1994, the atmosphere is trendy, but with fair prices and great service.
Located on Pearl Street, the Fraunces Tavern is open from 11am to 4am daily. The tavern was opened in 2011 and offers a casual dining and drinking experience. With a large selection of beers, the tavern offers a sit back and relax atmosphere. Fraunces Tavern isn't far from Wall Street and the Financial District, so there are often businessmen and women seen having a drink after the market closes at happy hour.
