New York City as well as some of its boroughs, as well as part of New York State itself borders the Atlantic Ocean. Fishing boats leave from different marinas in and around Manhattan and the other ocean-bordering boroughs, headed out to catch fresh fish for use in the many seafood restaurants found in New York.

There are so many to choose from that it may be hard to decide which one to try. This list of some of the best New York seafood restaurants will help you narrow your choices. If you still have a problem, just make plans to eat at a different one each time you go out to eat.

Aquagrill, 210 Spring Street at 6th Avenue (SoHo)

If you go in the daytime, you'll experience an open, airy atmosphere just perfect for a lunch or early dinner. At night, the atmosphere becomes more sophisticated, so you can enjoy an more intimate setting.

You can dine either indoors or outdoors on the terrace, which seats 30. You'll enjoy eating among the sea grass and garden flowers. If you like raw oysters, visit the cocktail lounge and bar. You'll find many different kinds of oysters, one of them is bound to be your favorite.

ESCA, 402 West 43rd Street

Dave Pasternack, who has been called the "fish whisperer" in a New York Times review, along with Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich, have teamed up to create a seafood restaurant that offers different kinds of seafood. The result is a dining experience you've never experienced before.

You don't have to worry about the seafood they serve not being fresh when you dine at ESCA. If you order the halibut, it will have only arrived a few hours before dinner. The striped bass on the menu? Dave caught it himself at his Long Island home. How much fresher can you get?

Estiatorio Milos, 125 W. 55th Street

The owners of Milos want to be sure that everything used to create the delicious dishes served in the restaurant is the best, whether it's the produce, the yogurt, the honey, or whatever. It goes without saying that the fish and seafood has to be of the highest quality.

This attention to detail means that you will enjoy a meal that contains the freshest ingredients, gathered and processed with respect for the environment in mind. Your meal will be simple—there is no need for sauces or heavy flavorings, but its outstanding taste and presentation will provide the elegance it so richly deserves.
