Pick yourself a movie or two from this list
Movies are still a great form of entertainment - sit back, no phones and relax with a huge screen and great sound. This is a list of movies being released in the New Year, and there is something for everyone.

You will have to check your local cinema to find times and dates for these movies, and all will be released either January or February 2018.

1. MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE
Thomas and the remaining Gladers square off against the WCKD organisation for the last time in the third and final installment of the Maze Runner series.

2. FIFTY SHADES FREED
Christian and Ana believe that they have put an end to their past, and the newlyweds "fully embrace an inextricable connection and shared life of luxury". However, problems crop up and therefore new threats could hamper a happy ending before it really begins.

3. PITCH PERFECT 3
After they have a win at the world championships, the now separated Bellas reunite for one last singing competition at an overseas USO tour. However, they must go against another group who use both instruments and voices.

4. THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI
This is about a mother who's fed up with her daughter's murder case having gone unsolved for months. In order to get things moving quicker, she buys some billboard space in her small town and has a "go" at the local police.

5. THE POST
Steven Spielberg is the director for this movie and it is about the unusual partnership between The Washington Post's Katharine Graham, the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, and editor Ben Bradlee. They have to try to expose a huge cover-up of government secrets that occurred over 30 years ago.

Running Time: 116 minutes

6. AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON
This film is about two American college students on a walking tour of Britain who are attacked by a werewolf that none of the locals will admit exists.

Running Time: 98 minutes
Genre: Comedy, horror

7. MOLLY'S GAME
Molly Bloom is an Olympic-class skier who ran the world's most exclusive high-stakes poker game before being arrested by 17 FBI agents with automatic weapons.

Her defence lawyer discovers there is much more to Molly than the papers have led the public to believe.

8. ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD
This is a ransom thriller based on the true story of the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III. When he is kidnapped, his mother, Gail Harris, makes desperate attempts to get the boy's grandfather to pay the ransom. His grandfather, who is reputed to be the richest man in the world, initially refuses to pay.

9. THE BBQ
Darren 'Dazza' Cook is an ordinary family man who has long believed that his family is related to Captain James Cook! Dazza loves to barbecue, but when he accidentally gives his neighbours food poisoning at his regular Saturday BBQ, Dazza's reputation is on the line.

10. BREATHE
Robin Cavendish is adventurous and has his whole life ahead of him when he is paralysed by polio while in Africa and given just months to live.

He is advised not to go home from hospital, however, his wife, Robin brings him home where she attempts to lead him into a "normal" life. They both refuse to be limited by expectations and amaze others with their humour, courage and lust for life.

11. PHANTOM THREAD
This drama is set in the fashion world of 1950's, when well-known dressmaker, Reynolds Woodcock and his sister Cyril are at the centre of British fashion, dressing royalty, movie stars, heiresses, and the like.

Woodcock is a bachelor with plenty of women in and out of his life, until he comes across a strong-willed woman, Alma, who soon becomes a fixture in his life as his muse and lover.

12. THE SHAPE OF WATER
This is set in Cold War America, and in a high-security government laboratory where lonely Elisa works. She is trapped in a life of silence and isolation, and her life changes when she, and co-worker Zelda, discover a secret classified experiment.



Main Cast: Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Michael Stuhlbarg, Doug Jones
Running time: 123 minutes

13. SWINGING SAFARI
This Australian comedy is set in the '7'0s and is about a beached whale, the kids who can't get enough of it, and their sexually promiscuous parents - and how everything goes spectacularly wrong!



Main Cast: Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce, Jack Thompson, Julian McMahon, Asher Keddie
Running Time; 96 minutes
Genre: Comedy

14. SWEET COUNTRY
This is a true story set in the outback of the Northern Territory, in 1929. Aboriginal stockman Sam kills a white station owner in self-defence, and he goes on the run.

Sam and his wife are pursued and this is their story, as well as that of Sergeant Fletcher. Eventually, for the health of his pregnant wife, Sam decides to give himself up and is put on trial.



Main Cast: Bryan Brown, Sam Neill, Hamilton Morris, Thomas M. Wright, Matt Day
Running time: 110 minutes

15. FINDING YOUR FEET
Lady Sandra Abbott is prim and proper and her life is turned upside down after discovering her husband's affair with her best friend.

Running time: 111 minutes
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance

There should be at least a few of these to recommended films that you will want to see!

I hated Three Billboards. Great performances but I don't see how the humour in a horrific rape and murder and abusing other people.
