I'm a freelance writer living in the northern suburbs of Brisbane. I study creative writing and film and tv.

It seems to be all about the coffee these days. Almost everyone drinks it and nearly everyone has their favourite place where they go for a good, cheap cup of coffee. But, what if you are a milkshake aficionado? What if you prefer a tasty milk beverage over a caffeine hit? Well, prepare yourself, because I'm about to drop some knowledge.

I believe a good milkshake should be tasty, reasonably priced, a good size, and easily accessible. (However, if the taste factor is very high, it is acceptable for the price to be proportionately higher.)

Taking this into account, I scoured the city on the hunt for Brisbane's best milkshake. The Pancake Manor on Charlotte Street makes a very good milkshake for a reasonable price, $4. They might be a touch on the sweet side and a little too small but definitely worth a mention. The Beach House also makes great milkshakes and they are also among the cheapest in Brisbane at $3.50.

The best milkshake in Brisbane award, though, definitely goes to Copenhagen in the Queen Street Mall. Sure, their shakes cost $4.70 ($5.70 for a large and $6.70 for a thickshake), but they are mind-blowingly good (the fact that they use delicious ice cream is a huge factor), they are also a good size and very accessible.

I found my perfect milkshake, how about you? Do you know of any hidden treasures? If so, please let us know by leaving a comment below.

It's been awhile since I bought one so I'm not sure what they go for these days but I've always been a fan of the Mega Choc milkshake from Wendy's. They are a chocolate milkshake with a scoop of chocolate ice cream and chopped up cadbury top deck on top. Absolutely delicious and great size - plus there is a Wendy's in just about every major shopping complex so very consistent and readily available!!!

My favourite milkshakes in Brisbane are at the Cold Rock Ice Creamery. This is mostly due to the amazing selection of ice cream they have with which to base your milkshake. I've found that using the Peanut Butter and Chocolate ice creams, it's almost like a Reece's Peanut Buttercup milkshake.
