I am always looking out for new experiences, wherever I may find myself.

If you're looking for a market on the Sunshine Coast, you're almost spoilt for choice. Some of the top ones include the Noosa Farmers Market, Peregian Beach Market, Cotton Tree Market and the Caloundra Street Fair. Even the Big Pineapple has markets on Saturday. However, the market that I consider the best in the area isn't any of these. It's the Eumundi Markets (which is probably no surprise).

Shopping at the Eumundi Markets

The Eumundi Markets are huge, having grown to 600 stalls. They have even become a tourist attraction. Great importance is placed on locally-produced, original products, so you can get things here you've never seen before. But at the same time you won't want for anything because they're so big, and there's so much variety. Admittedly, some of the markets that have sprung up beside the original one are less concerned with originality. However, they're all worth a look, and so many people seem to agree with me that there's been the need to open the markets for an extra day: Wednesday as well as Saturday now hosts the event each week.

Do you agree with my rating, or are the Eumundi Markets a bit overrated? Does one of the others get your vote?

I am not that interested in the Emundi markts as they have become more a tourist attraction - I preferred them years ago when there was allot of farmers with vegetable and fruit and more local people adding things to the markets it has becoe to commercial and you cannot buy much in vegetable or fruit like you can at the farmer markets at the pineapple and kawana is very good but this is if you want good fresh food to cook with as this is my interest always looking for fresh produce.

Yandina Markets on from 7 till 12 every Saturday are great if you are after plants, produce or bread-the last time I visited they also had local cheese and specialised fish sellers- if you want cheap or free veggies go around 11-30 as some of the stall holders give their products away bgoth as a goodwill thing and maybe to get you to buy something else-loads of second hand goods sellers often better than garage sale prices so this market is really worth a look and with a great Pub in town and some fabulous cafes and deli's worth a look around.

Don't forget Yandina Markets on every Saturday morning. It's great for produce and plants and bric-a-brac. Although not as large as some of the other markets there is plenty of stalls and plenty of variety and maybe not as crowded.

Yandina market on Saturday is great for locals. Lots of plants, 'good junk', and locally grown produce.
