After a long time of silence during the COVID-19 pandemic, live music is slowly coming back to our pubs, clubs and taverns and it is time to celebrate! Nothing beats the sound of live music and appreciating the talent of our local musicians. Around the Port Stephens area, there are a number of venues that offer live music each weekend - whether it is a solo singer playing the guitar, or a full band live on stage.
Where is
your favourite live music venue around Port Stephens? I would love to hear about it! These three options below are places that I have discovered around the Nelson Bay area, however, they are just the tip of the iceberg. If you have a favourite live music venue that isn't mentioned, please leave a comment at the top of this article and share your local tips. For me, however, nothing beats this venue, below, for chilled out tunes every weekend...

Murray's Brewery at Bobs Farm is a popular venue with locals and tourists alike as it has a large outdoor deck, burgers, pizzas, tasting platters, beer and also free live music every weekend! It is the ultimate place to have a Sunday catch-up with your friends and you can even take your pooch too if you sit on the grass. See

Shoal Bay Country Club is another venue that offers free live music - usually on Friday and Saturday nights. Relax in the beer garden with a cocktail and enjoy tunes from local singers, duos and bands. This venue really knows how to put on a party for ANZAC Day, Melbourne Cup and New Year's Eve, so ensure you check out the live music line-ups at those events. If you're feeling hungry in between sets, you can pick up some tasty meals from the Kitchen and Patio upstairs. See

Many Local Clubs around Nelson Bay have live music on offer each weekend if you are looking for some classic entertainment. Two stand-out venues are
Wests Nelson Bay and
Soldiers Point Bowling Club, as they both offer free live music and ticketed events for touring musicians. Wests in particular has a large auditorium upstairs, which attracts big names to the area. Entry is for members and their guests, however, if you aren't a member they both offer cheap membership fees.
Where do you like to go for live music in the Port Stephens region? Does your local, club, pub or tavern put on some good live music on a Saturday night? If so, I'd love to check it out - please leave a comment at the top of this article and share your tips. It doesn't matter what the music style is - if it gets your toes tapping, any live music is good music!
