Try these post-bender options next time you're at the popular 'late night' areas of Chapel Street or Church Street on a weekend night, and don't want to wake up the next morning regretting shoving $20 worth of greasy fast food inside your stomach.
-Chapelli's This busy, lively restaurant, situated at the very beginning of Chapel Street, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Although slightly pricey for late night food, the quality and variety is worth it. You won't find a better menu after midnight- parmas, steaks, pastas and gourmet burgers, amongst other eatables are on offer. And if you're having a really big night, the breakfast menu starts at 6am.
Being a popular 'late night' area, there's no shortage of restaurants selling day time and night time kebabs on Chapel Street. However, if you want a quality feed, look no further than the iconic Lamb on Chapel. It's a bit more expensive than the majority of souvlaki/kebab huts, but the feeling after devouring a mixed, double meat (perfect meat grilled to perfection, I might add) souvlaki from LOC is one that needs to be experienced. Your body will thank you the next morning too, as the fresh salad and quality filling will treat you far better than the nearby alternatives of greasy, saturated fat-filled fast food.
Although BBNT may not be classified as 'fine late night dining', like the two above choices, it compensates with variety and value for money. Located near the corner of Church Street and Swan Street in Richmond, the name of the restaurant is an acronym for "Burgers, Burritos, Nachos, Tacos", and it delivers on that title. Meaty, highly filling burgers of all types, generously proportioned nachos with the lot (and other kinds of Mexican food), and delicously satisfying chips are the favourites at this place, all for a fairly affordable price. You'll spend more money than at a fast food place, but will have a much better quality feed.
-Lambs on Richmond If you don't have the desire to fork out anything more than $10 for a late night kebab, Lambs on Richmond is the preferred option in this area. The quality of the meat, althought not quite up to LOC's excellent standard, is fantastic, and the friendly owners will fill your bread up with "extra extra extra" meat for little additional charge. A fresher and more delicious option than the abundance of competitors in the area.
