If you're a foodie who wants to eat and drink nothing but the best that Sydney has to offer, check out these impressive apps.

SMH Good Food Guide 2013
Price: The app is free and comes with 10 free sample reviews, but a one-month ($1.99) or permanent ($9.49) subscription is needed to access the complete collection of reviews.

It's no great surprise to see this Sydney institution at the top of this list. The 2013 edition of Australia's oldest independent restaurant guide to Sydney and New South Wales features detailed reviews of some 670 venues - all the reviews and awards from the book version of the Good Food Guide.

Each restaurant featured in the app is reviewed and revisited every year so you know you're getting up to date information, and each venue is only included if it's somewhere the reviewers would recommend to a friend. Handy search filters let you sort your results by name, price, rating, food, facilities, distance or by your favourites.

The best guide to Sydney's best restaurants.

This app promises to help you discover Sydney's best-kept food secrets. If you insist on cooking with only the freshest produce and the finest ingredients, this is the app for you.

It features reviews of Sydney's best bakeries, cheese specialists, wine merchants, chocolatiers and coffee roasters. A number of search options make it easy to track down what you're looking for, while you can search for producers near you or further afield.

Eating and Drinking Sydney 2012
Price: $4.49

As the name would suggest, Eating and Drinking Sydney 2012 aims to be yoour guide to a great night out in the harbour city. The size of this app is impressive, with more than 700 venue reviews at your fingertips.

From gourmet eateries to bars, pubs, cafes and fare at the cheaper end of the spectrum, it's all included here. Reviews are split into three sections: restaurants, cheap and cheerful options, and bars. Reviews don't just focus on the food either, giving you a good idea of the overall feel of a place as well as what your taste buds can expect.

Listings are available by suburb, while you can also use the near-me functionality to find the best bars and restaurants close to you.

Sydney Cafe Culture
Price: $4.49

I also included this app in an article I wrote a while ago on the best iPhone apps for Sydneysiders , and I can't go past it again here.

It features 300 of the best cafes in Sydney and the surrounding areas. Reviews are comprehensive and the interface is easy to use.

So whether you're after a great coffee or a relaxing cafe, this app is well worth the price.
