Darwin has a dynamic coffee scene. It is blessed with a few good roasters and beans that come from places like Timor L'Este and Papua New Guinea. Coffee is a staple in Darwin to combat the oppressive heat. Especially in Build-up and Mango Madness season (non-locals know these as 'wow, it's so hot, I shouldn't have come in late September/October/November to visit'). It's often called the 'Wet Season'.

Some of these places don't look like much from the outside, but they deliver on the ice, the coffee, and required cream and ice cream that is needed to power through another day in the tropics.
Cyclone Cafe 8 Parap Place Parap
Cyclone Cafe roast their own beans. They make a great full iced coffee that has just the right amount of coffee and cream. This little cafe is a Darwin Institution and a must do on a hot and sticky day.
They also have a good brunch menu.
Four Birds 32 Smith Street Darwin
This place is only open in the dry season. It makes a good iced coffee and has a limited but good brunch menu. It's a great place to sit as it's a little shaded. The service is good and the people are friendly. And most importantly they know how to make a good iced coffee.
Alley Cats 14/69 Mitchell Street Darwin
This is a new kid on the block (relative to the first two I've talked about). They have excellent lunch sandwiches, great pastrie, and a good menu. They also make a really nice proper iced coffee with loads of cream.
Cafe 21 28 Smith Street Darwin
This cafe is run by a long time Darwin Philipino family. They do an excellent chicken schnitzel (but that's aside, this is an article about iced coffee!). They do a super tasty super creamy iced coffee and provide the spoon and the straw to drink. They have good opening hours and are open all year round.
Those are my best coffee places in Darwin. Please comment below with your favourite iced coffee in Darwin.
