Best Ice Cream Joints in Sydney

Forget about
Cold Rock ,
Mövenpick ,
Copenhagen ,
Gelatissimo , and
Ben & Jerry's , life is too short for second best ice cream. Below I have shortlisted my top 3 ice cream joints (objections and suggestions are obviously welcome):
1)
Anita Gelato
What? Never heard of it? Well, me neither... until it opened at Central Park in Chippendale late last year. Anita is apparently the
second biggest ice cream chain in Tel Aviv . I never knew that ice cream is a huge thing in Israel, but
apparently so .
Anyway, Anita is currently my number one favourite ice cream joint for four reasons:
It has a wide range of interesting flavours, such as pear & wine, kinder bueno, black forest, mascarpone & blueberries, limoncello, and cookieman. I probably only named less than a quarter of the flavours on offer.
You can sample as many flavours as you like (without getting that judgmental look). The staff actually encourage you to sample the ice cream, and at times even give you more than you ask for. Gotta love their service and attitude!
The portion is generous. They really do stuff your cup / cone full. At $5 for a single scoop, $7 for two scoops, and $8 for 3 scoops, you definitely get more bang for your buck.
It's a cafe so you can actually enjoy your ice cream sitting down. Unlike many other ice cream joints, you can actually bring your laptop there and work, as the ambience is very chilled and relaxing. It's also a great place to hang out with your friends if it's too cold outside.
2)
N2 Extreme Gelato
The first and only nitrogen ice cream joint in Sydney, possibly in the whole of Australia too? Is anyone aware of another nitrogen ice cream joint?
I went through a phase where I had to eat N2 at least once every week. Thank god that phase has passed, or I will start worrying for my health. N2 introduces new exciting flavours every single week (on Thursdays if I am not mistaken). Kudos to the folks at N2 for constantly thinking outside the box and innovating itself, and taking ice cream to a whole new level.
From as funky as kimchi, duck with Pinot Noir, bacon & maple syrup, to 'tamer' flavours such as crème brûlée, chocolate, and fruit sorbet, you are guaranteed to find something that suits your palate, or intrigue you.
If you have never tried N2 before, please do yourself a favour, check their website, see which flavours you are interested in, and pay them a visit. You gotta experience it once, at least.
3)
Gelato Messina
I feel obligated to include Messina in this list, because it is loved by every single person I know (well majority of them). I like it, but wouldn't go out of my way to have it.
Thanks to Masterchef, Messina is extremely popular and there is always a queue no matter
which store you go to. No doubt the ice cream is one of the best, silky smooth with
tempting flavours such as milk chocolate with peanut butter fudge, poached figs in marsala, and apple pie. Watch out for the weekly specials!
Ice cream is an instant mood booster for me, especially when I feel down in the dumps. Some people say: a minute on the lips, a lifetime on the hips; I say: screw it, everyone needs a good scoop of ice cream from time to time.
