When the aroma of fresh baking and mixed spice starts to waft through the air, you just know that Easter isn't far away. Hot Cross Buns are traditional Easter fare, usually eaten warm or toasted with butter. There are so many yummy hot cross buns available at the moment, they really are hard to resist.

There are lots of places to get hot crossed buns at this time of year, but where are the best hot cross buns in Perth?

Traditional Fruit Hot Cross Buns

Woolworths Supermarkets have a variety of hot cross buns available. Their award winning traditional fruit hot cross buns are very popular and delicious. They also have mini, fruitless, chocolate and extra soft hot cross buns on offer. This year Woolworths have a new flavour for you to try - sticky date and caramel.

Coles Supermarkets have a range of hot cross buns, freshly baked for you to take home and enjoy. Choose from traditional fruit, mini, choc chip or fruitless, they are available in packs of six for around $4.00.

Choc-Chip Hot Cross Buns

One of the best places to get hot cross buns would have to be Bakers Delight stores. Bakers Delight make yummy hot cross buns in three varieties, traditional, choc chip and fruitless. Baked fresh daily, they are soft and delicious. On Easter Bundraiser day, Saturday 16th March, 2013, $1.00 from every six pack sold will be donated to the Princess Margaret Hospital.

For chocaholics out there, Brumbys bake a range of tempting chocolate hot cross buns including double choc, mocha, orange choc and raspberry choc, all made with real Cadbury chocolate. They also make very tasty traditional fruit hot cross buns.

You can buy Tip Top Traditional Hot Cross Buns from most supermarkets, in packs of six. These are an old favourite and always tasty.

Jean Pierre Sancho, in Perth and Northbridge, bakes lovely light and buttery hot cross buns, fresh daily. These hot cross buns were voted best Hot Cross Buns in Perth in 2012, so give them a try.

You can get freshly baked hot cross buns from Lawleys Bakery in Mount Lawley and Chez Jean-Claude Pattisserie in Subiaco, both have been highly recommended.

Why not do a local business a favour and buy their Easter buns? Lawleys' buns are really nice? Brewhaha in Subiaco also do delicious buns - a bit pricey but worth it.

They traditional, blueberry and choc chip hot cross buns.
They are made with regular flour and with spelt flour (for those who are wheat sensitive).
An old fashioned independent family bakery where everything is made from scratch. Well worth a visit
