Where is the Best Hot Chocolate in Melbourne?

In Winter there is nothing better than a hot chocolate. Several cafes in Melbourne take pride in serving the humble Hot Chocolate; some of the standouts include Shocolate in Fitzroy, Brunetti in Carlton and Cacao in St Kilda. However my favourite, is possibly one of the most popular chocolate cafes, Koko Black, located in the Royal Arcade in the CBD.

Koko Black Belgian Hot Chocolate Chilli Blend

At Koko Black (which has various locations around Melbourne and Victoria) you can enjoy a range of Belgian Hot Chocolate blends, including chocolate mocha, cinnamon and hazelnut, which are all a delight. There is also a chilli blend, which is an acquired taste. Koko Black's Belgian Hot Chocolate is made with 54% dark chocolate, full cream milk and cream, and the outcome is a smooth, rich, satisfying hot chocolate. In addition to the full cream Belgian Hot Chocolate, there are also light and soy options.

A liitle unassuming cafe in Moonee Ponds serves the most delightful hot chocolates in Melbourne. It's a small backyard cafe called Garden Tuscany. Their 'Chilli cin' hot chocolates are amazing.

Theres a great chocolate shop in Hampton Road, Hampton. It was the first place that I tried the thick european hot chocolate. The one in Royal Arcade is pretty good too.

Wow, tough call..... We make our own with Belgium callebaut buds which you just can't go past.
However, if you must venture out, then yes, probably koko black, ripe in sassafras and the old tea shop in warburton, all doing a great job with real chocolate melting throughout.
I read Belgium chocolate is lower in calories and because it is not artificially sweetened, creates a sensation of satisfaction, rather than the sugar craving that accompanies artificial sweeteners.
I like the saying
"chocolate is good for you, because it makes you happy"

Surprisingly, found in many shopping centres, I hadn't thought they would be so good were San Churros
You can even share them with a chocolate plate or chocolate dipping sauce with Spanish donuts

Oh I do love a Max Brenner Milk Chocolate Suckao. It comes over a candle and you mix the chocolate pieces into the milk yourself.

I love the Theobroma Chocolate Lounge in good old Eastland shopping centre in Ringwood. OK, so Eastland and Ringwood may not be up there on the glam scale but Theobroma's hot choc is out of this world...

Can't believe no one has mentioned Flower Temple in the QV Centre. You get a small bottle of hot chocolate and a cup with a chocolate egg sitting on some chocolate powder. You pour the chocolate over the egg - ahhhmaazing!
