Notably, there are different golf courses that suit different players. Those that hit it short may want to play on a course that has shorter holes. Those that hit it longer and with more accuracy may want a more challenging designed golf course.
There is also the social side of the game. Some clubs have a huge social group while others are a little more competitive. Personally, I prefer a more social setting because golf is a game to be enjoyed. It is probably why I prefer the rural clubs like Paeroa or Huntly Golf Clubs.
Overall, a golf course should have the options to have lessons with a coach, have access to a practice fairway and offer a golfer to improve on their short game. Some clubs may only have some of these options which may impact the decision of joining or not!
Lastly, it comes down to price. Some golf courses are more expensive than others. Some private golfers do not encourage non-members. Whereas some public clubs may be open to visitors but the golf course is poorly maintained!
