Where to find sweet treats for Christmas or anytime
It's been a while since I spent some time at the Central Market, located between Grote and Gouger Streets in Adelaide City, but when I visited a few weeks before Christmas I was pleased to see it is looking better than ever. Many stalls have had a refurbishment, and all about there is a fantastic vibe with friendly people. I went in search of some gluten free treats for you or your loved ones to enjoy over the holidays.

I was pleased to find a wide selection of GF food products available. Not in every store of course caters to gluten free diets, so hopefully this little guide will help you to not waste time running all over the place. Head to these stores for your GF treats. While this article cover special treats for Christmas, these stores stock GF products all year round.

Goodies And Grains
This health food supermarket in the arcade stocks GF plum puddings and cakes, and packaged biscuits.

Atlas Cafe
This coffee shop has some sweet GF fruit mince pies, perfect for a break with a cuppa during your market outing. They also make a huge GF lamington, but no photo as they had sold out. These would be an idea for Australia Day.

Jagger Fine Foods.
This store has some lovely gourmet delights, including made in SA, Savilles Christmas cakes and puddings. All the fresh dips are gluten free bar one, and esssential for a party. And the absolutely amazing brandy salted caramel sauce is a GF winner. I would be happy with a jar of that sauce under my tree, thanks Santa.

The Adelaide Nut.
This dried fruit and nut store right near the escalator, makes up some attractively wrapped hampers and gift packs. None of the hampers have fillers such as cheap peanuts. All hampers are made up by staff member Cleo, and are just perfect for an easy gift for someone you know on a GF diet or anyone. These are forever popular gifts. Dont they look delightful?

House Of Health
At this stall staff member Happy Maple from Happy Wholefoods is the creator of these very special sweet treats, handmade and full of healthy ingredients. They are in the shape of little Christmas novelties, and would be a cheery fun choice when you are shopping with children who are on a GF diet.

This stall has the most decadent luscious cakes and many GF varieties are on offer for Christmas and available all year. For Christmas a chocolate mud cake would feed a crowd. The cakes can also be purchased by the slice. They also stock GF fruit mince pies.

Everyone at the Central Markets I talked to was more than happy to talk about their gluten free products, and they will be happy to help you with your gluten free needs. I was impressed that there was such fresh quality products to choose from.

Everyone needs a sweet treat now and then.

I haven't been to the markets in a while and didn't realise there were so many gluten free options. I definitely need to go back soon. Great article.
