Eggcelent free Easter fun for the whole family

Easter is almost amongst us. The enticing sights and smells of hot cross buns, the abundance of Easter eggs along with the omnipresence of bunny ears in practically every shopping mall, department store and shopping centre makes it known that Easter is well and truly almost here. Like every year, Melbourne has in store an amazing lineup of free events and celebrations for Easter.
Belgrave South Community Market Easter Extravaganza On 6 April 2014, Belgrave South Community Hall will host a stunning Easter celebration. The festival will be filled with live entertainment, exquisite food, a magic show, jumping castle and so on. Lend an ear to the fabulous drumming noise of African drums. A massive Easter egg hunt will be the highlight of the event. The Easter Bunny will guide the little ones in finding the Easter eggs. Children's Week at Skyhigh Mt Dandenong Children's Week at Skyhigh Mr Dandenong will woo visitors from 7 April 2014 to 20 April 2014. This two week-long festival will incorporate bouncy castle, face painting, nine hole mini gold, sand art, CFA display and badge making and so on. On 20 March 2014, there will be an Easter egg hunt at 10am with the effervescent presence of an Easter bunny. The full programme itinerary can be found here. Entry to the festival and activities are absolutely free. However, the regular gate fees to enter SkyHigh will continue to apply.
Little Foodies Scavenger Hunt @ Queen Victoria Market
Easter Sunday, 20 April 2014, will be the Easter Treasure Hunt Day at the Queen Victoria Market. A special Easter guide will help you to weave around the extensive Queen Victoria market to locate Easter foodie treasures. The fun will be elevated by the provision of samples or tastings to kids at each location while they will also receive a 'treasure bag' to fill with Easter eggs and goodies during their adventure. Registration is required for the three sessions: 10:30am, 12pm and 2pm. This event is not suitable for children with food allergies.
Easter Celebration @ South Melbourne Market South Melbourne has planned a plethora of events to celebrate Easter. The Easter Bunny will grace the market on 17 April 2014 from 11am to 2pm and on 19 April 2014 from 10am to 1pm. A fantastic Easter egg hunt will be organized on 19 April 2014 at 10am. This free egg hunt will be open to the first 40 children who succeed in finding the Easter Bunny. Furthermore, there will be live jazz performances from 11am to 1:30pm on 17, 19 and 20 April 2014.
Rye Kids Festival The Rye Kids Festival will regale visitors for 5 long days with circus workshops, stage performances, roving entertainment and magic shows. There will be carnival rides to make the little ones gleeful. The festival will kick off at 12pm on 18 April 2014 and will culminate on 21 April 2014. The fiesta will commence at 12pm throughout the festival. On Easter Sunday, an Easter Bunny will make its appearance. An egg hunt will take place with guaranteed fun for the whole family. The location of the festival will be Point Nepean Road, RYE.
