When my family and I moved to the Nelson Bay region, we were happy to discover that there was a lot of delicious fresh local produce to buy. As you drive into the area along Nelson Bay Road, there are signs for fresh avocados, free-range eggs, blueberries and seasonal fruit and vegetables. The signs give you plenty of time to slow down and pull over to pick up some fresh local produce, that are always bigger and full of flavour compared to supermarket offerings.

These venues below, are the ones that our family have stopped for when we have driven around the area. Do you know of any more in the Port Stephens region that you can visit? If so, I would love to hear about it! Please leave a comment at the top of this article and share your local tips and it will be shown underneath, for others to read. Let's support our local growers and keep them open for a long time into the future!

Bobs Farm Avocados is the first farm stall that you see when you enter the Nelson Bay area, on Nelson Bay Road at Bobs Farm. As you pull into the car park, you can see the rows of avocado trees right next door to the shed. Buy one avocado or a bucket of them! See their Facebook page for details. Their current opening times are listed on their Google overview.

Port Stephens Eggs can be found further along Nelson Bay Road, so look out for the signs as you get closer to Anna Bay. Pull over and stock up on some eggs and also have a look at the rest of their produce such as fruits, vegetables, sourdough, honey and more. Support a local business with happy hens! See here for details.

Gypsies Tomatoes are also located on Nelson Bay Road (on the opposite side of the road to Port Stephens Eggs). The undercover stand is in a handy location on the main road coming back out of Nelson Bay, so as you drive along you can pull over when you see that it is open. We have had the best tomatoes from this stall! To learn more about the people behind the stall, see a Port Stephens Examiner article here.

Bakker's Big Peach on Port Stephens Drive is open each summer during peach picking season. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for any updates on the business and opening times. If you love peaches, then this venue is the ultimate farm stall to stop at!

Also look out for signs as you drive into the region, as other houses and farms have signs throughout the year for blueberries, honey, nuts and other local produce. Some of these producers also sell at the local markets at Neil Carroll Park at Fly Point, Nelson Bay.

Where do you like to stop and buy local produce, when driving in the Nelson Bay area? Which one do you like the best? Please leave a comment at the top of this article with your tips. Wherever you buy your local produce, you won't find any fresher...
