Bam Bam Bakehouse is an institution on the Gold Coast that all the locals, including Margot Robbie, know about and visit often. Open daily over the holiday period, including New Year's Day, this bakery's delights fly off the shelves on weekends, with yummy custard tarts, Cherry Ripe croissants and homemade cookies to enjoy. The bakehouse offers dine-in breakfast and lunch options too such as Bam Bam Steak Sanga, Acai Bowls, Kiss My Hass, Bam Bam Croissant French Toast and plenty of drink options available, including beer and wine. Bam Bam Bakehouse is located at 2519 Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach and is open from 7am to 2pm daily. I would highly recommend to make a booking this time of year as it is every so popular, and be on the lookout for lots of people milling around, as you whizz along the highway it will be gone in a blink of an eye.

The Elk Espresso is one of my favourite Gold Coast haunts. I first visited Elk when it was hidden away in Broadbeach, but became so popular with locals and tourists that it has now moved to Oasis Shopping Centre on Old Burleigh Road, Broadbeach. This little gem is a mind blowing experience for any foodie to embrace with enthusiasm and unapologetically eat and drink as much as you want. P.S. I highly recommend to eat lightly the day before. Their famous Oreo thickshake is not to be consume by the faint hearted while you snack on some of their favourites. The Og Breakfast Burger is something to marvel at, while the Loaded Fig, Fruit and Hazelnut Toast with Honey Ricotta is just simply divine. They offer lunch with a summer menu available and a specially created kids menu as well. I highly recommend anyone visiting this café to make a booking. The Elk Espresso is open daily from 6am to 4pm including New Year's Day.
