September not only marks the beginning of Spring but the beginning of a season filled with exciting family-friendly events and activities. Below is a list of the top fetes, festivals and markets in and around Brisbane.
The Lockyer Valley welcomes families from across South East Queensland to attend this three-day festival. Enjoy community exhibitions and demonstrations, markets, an array of food options and live entertainment.
Of particular interest is the free Family Fun Day *8 September) featuring DirtGirl, annual street parade, rock climbing wall, jumping castle, face painting, roving entertainment and wildlife presentations.
Celebrate sustainable living with the family at the Green Heart Fair. Enjoy artisan markets, environmental and sustainability workshops, live music and food trucks. A range of children's entertainment, activities and the Brisbane Billycart Championships will amuse the younger family members.

Help raise funds for DanDaLion Friends and Logan House Fire Support Network. Families can browse through market stalls, listen to live music and purchase from various food trucks. Children can enjoy rides, games, animal farm and rock painting activities.
The 11th annual Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival boasts a 17 kilometre trail of scarecrows. Scarecrows are erected by 10:00am, 14 September. Click here for Scarecrow Trail.
The Scarecrow Spring Fare will be held 15 September, 10:00am-4:00pm, Tamborine Mountain Showgrounds (Main Western Road, Tamborine Mountain). Families can enjoy market stalls, rides, games, street performers, pig racing and food trucks. Gold coin entry fee.
The Scarecrow Lantern Parade will be held after this event, 4:30-6:30pm (Main Street, Tamborine Mountain). Bring a picnic blanket, settle down and watch a stream of scarecrow themed lanterns made by local school children.
Enjoy a family day trip to a traditional country market. Browse through an array of local fresh produce and wares, lunch at the on-site Vintage cafe and listen to live music. Children can visit the farm animals and participate in old-fashioned games.

Mud World Festival for Kids brings you two days of free-range and structured muddy play activities. The venue offers five distinct play areas including a mud village for toddlers and a giant mud pit, maze, slide and mountain range for children 2-14 years of age.
