I am new to this world. Well, to be more specific, I am new to this world of dogs. And it IS another world. I now spend a lot of my free time researching the things that my furry best friend and I can do together. I search for the best places to take your dog for daytrips, dog friendly accommodation, dog beaches, dog cafes, off leash areas, beauty salons... ok, well maybe I've gone too far but you get the gist.
So I thought I would put my research to good use and come up with a list of the better dog parks around the north side. Of course, I haven't covered all the doggie playgrounds in the area but this article by Kirsten Bas, has got some other great parks too.
Murrumba Downs - Blatchford Reserve A medium sized park with plenty of space to play fetch
Water station, doggie bags and bin, one bench seat with little shade
Situated in a massive human park with basketball court, dirt bike track and covered picnic area
Fitzgibbon - Roghan Road, Hidden World Playground Fun for kids (both furry and non-furry)
This dog park is separated in two, the general dog park and the small dog park
Both have water stations, doggie bags and bins and bench seats (covered seating in the general area)
Plenty of shade from the surrounding trees and one of the best playgrounds for your human kids, I have ever seen. Plus BBQ areas, toilets and an open area for an impromptu game of footy – get in early though, if you want to secure a seat!
Ample on street parking and a car park
My personal favourite: Kallangur - Park Grove Court A large, tranquil and shady area surrounded by bushland in Freshwater Reserve
Water station, doggie bags and bin (although bin is located outside of fenced area), two seats
Plenty of space to play fetch and to go exploring
Walking track, basketball court and large open field to kick a footy around
