Western Australians love their dogs. We take them to the park, for walks and play games with them, and they happily follow us everywhere. Wouldn't it be nice to visit a café where your dog is welcome? Dog friendly cafes and restaurants are already commonplace in other parts of the world and now there are a few cafés in Perth where owner and furry friend can feel at home.
Burns Beach Café in the northern suburb of Burns Beach is a unique little gem. It has a Doggy Num Nums menu and apparently it is very popular. The special menu offers canine delights, iced water and K9 protein shakes.
Aubergine Gourmet Foods in South Fremantle welcomes dogs and offers doggie treats for a small donation to the Swan Animal Haven. They have bowls of water and 'pupacinos'.
Tasty Express in South Fremantle is very dog-friendly and has water bowls in the al fresco area. The friendly staff regularly sees that lucky dogs are offered left-overs.
Gill Street Café in Mosman Park, The Pickled Fig in South Fremantle, Blue Waters in Cottesloe, and Benny's Bar and Café in Fremantle all have water bowls readily available and are quite happy for patrons to bring their dogs with them.
Lush Fresh Food and Coffee in Mt Hawthorn, has a separate garden courtyard for people and dogs to relax in a pet-friendly atmosphere. They have water bowls available and occasional bacon treats.
Of course animal food and utensils are all kept separate from the 'people food' areas and everything is sanitary, clean and tidy. Usually the dog-friendly areas are carefully restricted and separate from the 'non-dog' dining areas as not all patrons are animal lovers.
Elixir cafe is one of the most dog friendly cafes I have visited. Staff all seem to be dog lovers and water is offered for the dogs when ordering. It is a lovely cafe, blankets and outdoor heaters are provided in the colder months. Food is wonderful, portions very generous and prices reasonable. Located in Wanneroo at rocca way wanneroo, just off Dundebar rd and by the shopping centre.
Lake Espresso in Claremont (Lapsley Rd), backing onto the beautiful Lake Claremont reserve is very dog friendly, with three big park benches just off the decking area where patrons can sit peacefully with their dogs after a walk around Lake Claremont
Casa Bianchi allows dogs and it is the most wonderful, eclectic cafe and garden set-up. There is also a shop selling amazingly different and quirky furniture and decorative items. We love going there. The food is amazing, and the staff are all friendly and gorgeous too.
"Neptun" is a lovely Cafe and Lunch place looking over the ocean in
TWO ROCKS ! Owners and staff are very friendly to everyone -
also to dogs who sometimes get a treat as well. Ist a great place to meet
for locals and City people..... Margret
Hi, I'm KoKo, the self appointed president of the Subiaco Dog Group. We have a great dog friendly suburb. Every outdoor cafe has dog water bowls and some even have a dog bed! My favourite Dog Friendly cafe is Melagrano in Heytesbury Rd. They even have Dog parking! (My Mum Helen makes and sells these signs). Verde Brio Rokeby Rd sells frozen yogurt that I looove and it also has a Dog parking sign. see my Facebook for photos please facebook.com/KoKoPotterDogBlogger
Burns Beach cafe on the coastal path is the best I have ever seen, was in there last week and they have their own dog menu which had I think probably eight different things on it, but to top it off they are advertising a Dog Beer called tail wagger that they are going to release this summer, I will definetly be taking my pooch back to try that one!
7th Avenue Bar and Restaurant Midland. They will bring you water for your dog if there is none already in the court yard. Really nice tree filled court yard looking over the main street of Midland - great spot to have breakfast after a morning doing the shopping at the street market!
We found a good spot to take our pooch its The Boat Ramp on SafetyBay rd, Safety Bay, it is a small place but they have bowls of water for your pooch, & as long as he's well behaved & you use common sense u r all welcome, its our stompn ground wen we take Russ. Perth WA
The new dog friendly cafe in Guildford is proving to be very popular. I forget the name but it's in James St, just to the east of the (shell of) Guildford Hotel - right next to the Thai restaurant called 'The King and I".
Dog beach Deli at 8 Marrilana Drive in Golden Bay. Friendly staff, great fresh food cooked when you order it. Dogs are welcome and it is close to the dog beach so it's good for a drink of water for your dog after a walk.
