Nelson Bay, in the stunning Port Stephens region, has a number of clubs to visit, with a wide range of restaurants and bistros for dinner. Each club has something different to offer. For example, if you are looking for a friendly club near the heart of town, then check out Nelson Bay Bowling Club at the top of the hill. If you are staying near Shoal Bay, then walk upstairs to the Game Fishing Club or check out the highly popular Shoal Bay Country Club , for fresh seafood baskets, cocktails and nightlife. You won't find better views!

This list below, includes my personal favourite clubs for dinner around Nelson Bay. Which one(s) are yours? Please leave a comment at the top of this article and share which one you like the best, and why. Where will you be going this weekend?

Nelson Bay Golf Club is our family's top pick as each time we visit, for both lunch and dinner, we have been impressed with the quality of meals and holiday ambience. There is a main dining room with views out onto the golf course, where kangaroos can often be seen grazing on the fairways. This area also has a colourful indoor children's play area behind glass, so the kids can have fun, but it isn't noisy when dining. The staff are friendly, the drinks are reasonable and the decor is modern, as it was re-built in 2017 for $10 million dollars after a fire burnt down the previous clubhouse. Always check out the Specials board for more tasty options! See here for details. For a full article on the golf course and Bluewater Grill, see here .

Soldiers Point Bowling Club is located 15 minutes from Nelson Bay and is another friendly, medium-sized club with modern facilities, cheap drinks and delicious food. It has a spacious dining area and there is an outside playground for the kids. This club can be popular in the school holidays, as it is next door to a Big4 holiday park. A feature of this club that we like, is that after dinner you can walk across the road (past Bannisters Hotel and Cheeky Dog Bar ) and down to Point Jetty/@-32.7106,152.072805,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x61754e5ee5589401!8m2!3d-32.7106!4d152.072805 Soldiers Point Jetty , to check out the view. See here for details. For a full article on White sands Bistro, see here .

Wests Nelson Bay Diggers is a popular club and the largest club in town. It has modern decor, a vast amount of pokies, an auditorium for shows and a large bistro upstairs, which seats approximately 350 people. This is another busy club during the school holidays, particularly at Christmas when the wait can be more than an hour. The BBQ ribs are particularly popular, as well as the fresh grilled fish selection. There are no activities for the kids, so take your own colouring-in books. This venue is a friendly, lively place for dinner on a Saturday night.

Which club is your favourite? Do you agree with my order or clubs, or do you have a different set of favourites? Feel free to leave a comment at the top of this article and share your experiences. Why not grab a parmy, a cold beverage and watch the footy at your local club, this weekend! See you there!
