Where to See Brisbane's Best Christmas Lights 2018

Brisbane will soon be aglow with festive fairy lights and looped light shows across the city and suburbs, with something for every Brisbane photophile (lover of lights). They range from suburban houses to commercial and community spaces and from the grand to the modest. Read on to find out how you can find the best ones in the suburbs, and where to see the best large-scale offering in the city and surrounds.


& #127876 ; 4KQ Christmas Lights and Bus Tours
These are a perennial Brisbane favourite. Entries for the 2018 Competition have now closed and judging is taking place. From 6 December to 24 December you'll be able to see all the dazzling displays by all the official entrants.
If you want the FREE option you could compile your very own DIY Christmas lights tour from the list of entrants that will be published on the 4KQ website from 6 December . To give you a taste of what's to come you can check the list of 2017 winners online here and see images and videos of previous winners.
If you want the top-drawer experience why not use the experience and know-how of local councils and local bus companies combined with the comfort of a fully guided tour in an air-conditioned coach or bus?


& #127877 ; Brisbane City Council Bus Tours
The famous 4KQ Christmas Lights Bus Tours are run by Brisbane City Council and depart from four locations from Monday 17 December to Friday 21 December. Hop aboard a Council bus to explore the winning entries in the 2018 4KQ Christmas Lights competition. Tours are approx. 3 hours long with refreshment and toilet stops included.
Dates: From Monday 17 to Friday 21 December
Times: Buses depart at 6.45 pm nightly.
Departing from:
•City (Ann Street, Anzac Square Stop 7) to northern suburbs
•Carindale Shopping Centre (Stop H) to eastern suburbs
•Garden City Shopping Centre (Stop J & K) to southern suburbs
•Indooroopilly Shopping Centre (Stop C) to western suburbs
•Chermside Shopping Centre (Stop D) to northern suburbs.
Tickets
•Family (2 x Adult & 2x Children) Admit (Admits 4): $50.00
•Concession/Pensioner: $11.00
•Adult: $22.00
•Child (4-14 Years): $11.00

Kangaroo Bus Lines will conduct their own 4KQ Christmas Lights tours (from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 December) of the northern suburbs' prize winning lights displays, including a light supper with Christmas treats. Pick-ups can be arranged from Caboolture Station, Caboolture Sports Club, Pine Village, KBL Burpengary Lounge, Bindawalla Stop, Deception Bay, North Lakes, and Redcliffe Uniting Church.

Dates: Friday 21 December, Saturday 22 December and Sunday 23 December from 6pm to 10pm
Cost: Family (2 adults and 2 children) $99, Adults $39, Children (under 13) $29.

This festive fairyland, which was extremely popular with children last year, promises to be bigger in 2018. It features sparkling fairy lights and light projections, as well as and food trucks and entertainment. It's on from 6.30pm until 10 pm (with last entry at 9.30pm) from Friday 7 December to Wednesday 19 December and it's FREE.

The 2018 edition of this large light projection show features an Aussie Christmas tale played out on the facade of City Hall. It runs every 15 minutes from 7.30pm from Friday 7 December to Monday 24 December. It's FREE.
You can also see the beautifully lit 22 metre tall Christmas tree in King George Square every evening from Friday 30 November.

St Stephens Cathedral is one of Brisbane's most beautiful buildings. In a new event for 2018 expect to see and hear a 12 minute light and sound show running on a continuous loop from 7.30pm to midnight from Wednesday 12 December to Monday 24 December. It's FREE.

While it's not strictly about Christmas, Brisbane also has its own permanent spectacular light show. It lights up the Gallery of Modern Art with pulsating vibrant colour every evening from sunset.
