Give the Gift of Theatre
If you're like me you love a lot of people who love theatre. So what do you choose when you want to treat them to a Christmas gift that will really knock their socks off? Here are my top three suggestions for easy online gift purchases that will spoil your favourite theatre buff, in order of greatness.
The Cast and Writer of QTC's 2015 Production Oedipus Doesn't Live Here Anymore
1. Queensland Theatre Company Subscription
Queensland Theatre Company is such a great supporter of, and advocate for, local theatre professionals, and in 2015 they produced some of the best theatre Brisbane has ever seen. QTC has some excellent subscription offers, all of which you can tailor to your gift recipient's tastes.
Their website lets you quickly and easily create a bespoke 2016 subscription of 8, 5 or 3 productions. The 8 Play Package gets you 30% off Premium single ticket prices, you'll get up to 20% off Premium single ticket prices with the 5 Play Package and up to 15% off with the 3 Play Package. You save even more if you're buying for someone under 30. You also get to choose whether they attend on Saturday nights, weeknights, matinees or previews and for some performances, whether they'll be sitting in the premium or A-reserve section.
Plus, if you purchase a 2016 subscription before 18 December, 2015 their name will go into the draw to win a 'money-can't-buy' experience with outgoing QTC Artistic Director Wesley Enoch.
The QTC website says, "The lucky winner and their guest will get the ultimate QTC 'backstage pass; two days with our Artistic Director at the Sydney Festival, joining him as he steps into his new role as Festival Director. You'll take in a number of performances as Wesley's VIPs, and have plenty of time before and after shows to review and reflect on all your experiences. There will also be some time to take in the city sights and soak up all the Festival has to offer."
As the old advertising slogan goes, 'But wait – there's more!' If you buy an 8 play package for a new subscriber, you also get a complimentary three-month subscription to your choice of the following magazines: Belle, Australian Gourmet Traveller, Australian Homes and Gardens, Elle or Harper's Bazzar.
