Do you love to give baked goods or sweet food gifts at Christmas? I do! I think it is a thoughtful gift to give at this busy time of year - to make something special for someone, which takes time and effort. If you have friends or loved ones who love a particular flavour, or are gluten-free, then you can make a sweet treat that is just for them. Alternatively, you can also make a huge batch of rocky road and give it to everyone - who doesn't love rocky road!

These are my personal favourite gift ideas and recipes to give at this time of year. What are yours? If you would like to share your sweet treat recipes, please leave a comment at the top of this article with what to do, and it will be shown underneath for others to read. I love Christmas and the season of giving - what will you be giving this Christmas?

FOR KIDS

Home-Made Bounty Bar Balls

Combine half a tin of condensed milk, 2 cups of desiccated coconut and 1/2 cup of icing sugar in a bowl. Roll into balls and place on a plate in the fridge. When set, heat up a bag of Dark Chocolate Melts at 30 second intervals in the microwave until melted and drizzle over the balls. Place back in the fridge to set and then wrap up in cellophane for a yummy gift!

Reindeer Biscuits

This Christmas biscuit idea was made by my daughter at school and it was such a great idea, that we have been making them every Christmas since! Simply lay out some Arrowroot biscuits, spread them with melted chocolate and attach Tiny Teddys for antlers and then white choc buds and dots of liquorice as eyes. Finally add a Strawberry & Cream lolly for the red nose. Wrap them up individually in cellophane or fill up a plate of them and take them to a Christmas party. They are always a hit!

Gingerbread Men Biscuits

These traditional biscuits are always a hit with kids, wrapped up individually in cellophane with a candy cane attached. It is a simple idea that kids - and all ages - love to receive. See here for a mild recipe which is perfect for children.

Red Frog Rocky Road

Ingredients: 400g milk chocolate melts,150g marshmallows, 190g bag of red frog lollies (chopped in half) and 2 Mars Bars (chopped).

Line a slice tray with baking paper. In a bowl, combine the marshmallows, red frogs and Mars Bars. Melt chocolate in the microwave in 30 second intervals. Stir. When melted, pour into the bowl and combine quickly. Spoon into the tray and refrigerate for 1 hour. Remove and cut into squares. Wrap a few pieces in cellophane for each gift and tie with a Christmas ribbon.

Glass Jar Gifts

Do you have any glass jars in your pantry that you have admired for their shape? Throughout the year I collect various sizes of Moccona jars and Jamie Oliver Pesto jars, to put my sweet treats into at Christmas time. I fill Moccona jars with larger items, such as fudge (see recipe, below) or Christmas Peppermint Bliss Balls . The pesto jars are perfect for giving smaller items, such as home-made granola . For more ideas on what to make with leftover jars, see here .

Pistachio & Cranberry Fudge

Ingredients: 340g white chocolate melts, 1/4 cup thickened cream, 1/2 cup dried cranberries (sugar reduced), 1/3 cup chopped pistachios, 1 Tablespoon honey,1 teaspoon vanilla essence.

Line a loaf tray with foil. In a microwave-safe bowl, add white chocolate melts, thickened cream, honey and vanilla extract. Microwave for 30 seconds on high. Stir. Repeat for 30 seconds each time until choc melts have melted. Fold in cranberries and pistachios and spread the mixture into the tin. Put in the fridge to set overnight. Cut into squares and store in the fridge until needed. Take it out 10 minutes prior to serving or giving, to make it soft.

Do you have a favourite Christmas gift recipe? I would love to hear it! Please leave a comment at the top of this article with the ingredients and how to make it, so that we can all try it as well! Merry Christmas!
