Chicken Schnitzel is a fried boneless piece of chicken coated with flour, beaten eggs and bread crumbs. Properly done, it is crunchy on the outside with moist, sweet chicken on the inside. I just love a good Chicken Schnitzel topped with rich Pepper Sauce. Most restaurants offer it with an option of Mushroom Sauce, Diane Sauce or Gravy too. But my family's favourite is Pepper Sauce. Surprisingly, getting a nice tasty Pepper Sauce is much more difficult than getting a well cooked Chicken Schnitzel. Most of the Pepper Sauce are either too watery or don't have the required level of peppery taste.
My family's favourite Chicken Schnitzel with Pepper Sauce is from Caffe Primo at Mawson Lakes. Their pepper sauce is the best we have tasted so far; it has the right peppery zing and is not too creamy. The schnitzel was cooked just right with the fresh salad adding a delightful fresh taste to balance out the richer taste of the schnitzel.
Cecconi's on O'Connell at North Adelaide is our second favourite because it's such a generous portion. The fries were what I consider to be the crispiest out of the places we tried and the salad was as refreshing as the one from Caffe Primo. However the pepper sauce did not have enough of the peppery taste that makes it delicious.
Slug N Lettuce British Pub at Parafield Gardens comes third because they offer a deal on certain days that allows you to get the schnitzels at a reduced price. While the pepper taste was not as strong as the one from Caffe Primo, it still was enough to make it delectable. The salad is also notable for being dressed with a bit of creamy dressing to give it a different flavour from the salads at the other restaurants we have tried.
Club Bar at Mawson Lakes Hotel and Caffe Acqua at Kilburn are other places that we have enjoyed Chicken Schnitzel with Pepper Sauce. Club Bar's schnitzel is the only one that does not come with a salad but it did not affect the enjoyment of the dish. The pepper sauce at Caffe Acqua was a bit watery, but it still had the peppery taste that we enjoyed.
