A dish that commonly appears on the menu of Thai restaurants in Adelaide, Larb is a salad from Laos consisting of flavoured minced meat served with fresh vegetables and herbs. A key part of the salad is the inclusion of roasted ground rice which provide a bit of a chewy texture. While it can be made with various types of meat, Larb featuring minced chicken is the type that is most commonly seen in Adelaide.
Our favourite Chicken Larb so far is from Angel Thai Restaurant. Their dish had sufficient roasted ground sticky rice to give the slightly chewy texture that is expected from a good Chicken Larb. It also had a sufficient amount of chilli to provide a delectable spicy kick. Relief from the spiciness was provided by the mint leaves that were among the fresh vegetables in the dish.

Another Chicken Larb that we enjoyed was from Hello Pattaya. The portion size of the dish was quite generous, with the minced chicken having a good amount of savoury flavour. While the dish was tasty enough on its own, a sauce was served alongside for those that like to add more flavour.

The Chicken Larb at Green Papaya Thai Restaurant is a bit different in that cabbage served as the main vegetable element. This provided a bit more bite to the salad. The chicken mince had a delightful lemongrass flavour, with chilli flakes providing a bit of heat.
